hi,
im on L2 visa..dependent of a L1 holder. i would have completed 3 yrs in US by the 2009 match(which i intend to take). i understand that validity of j1 is 7 yrs( pls correct me if im wrong).
so, if i join residency in 2009 on a j1 visa, would i be allowed to stay for a full 7 y period on j1
or
would the 3 yrs tht i've already stayed in L2 be counted and be subtracted from those 7 yrs( cutting my eligible stay to 7-3=4 yrs)
im very much confused about this. im looking for accurate information on this. any help greatly appreciated.thanks in advance

hi,
i wanted to clear one more thing. if i would be allowed to stay on j1 for 7 yrs( if the duration i've already stayed is not taken into account), would i be able to go for fellowship within the same 7 yrs?
