Hi there! i'm feeling kinda down lately for i haven't receive any interviews yet. I'm getting tired of waiting and hoping that i'll get interviews. I'm a 2005 graduate with mediocre scores of 91/84/ to take CS; need VISA no USCE; graduated with honors in my home country. My step 2 score is a real mess. Losing hope of getting matched. I have a question... PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ANSWER.... with my credentials, do i still have a chance of landing an IM position or at least an interview? I'm really worried. What's the average number of interviews one get with such low scores? thanks.

Dear Maveric, I guess the main reason you are not getting interviews is that you have not taken CS and are not ECFMG certified. Programs mostly call applicants with ECFMG certification and complete application.Although some programs do call with one score but ratio is very very less. You can think that each internal medicine program is getting approximately 600-700 applications in around 2-3 weeks time and these stats are correct. If you want you can call an internal medicne program, a bad Ny city program, or a good community program??? And if they have so many with complete application sitting and waiting ,then they always prefer them. But this doesnot mean that you will not get any calls with 2 scores. There are people who are getting calls without cs result ,but it is just luck.Nobody can predict when and from where you can get a call.So donot be disappointed ,as soon as you clear cs ,you will start getting calls or may be earlier . Your scores are good .Donot worry , keep faith and keep praying.

Hi maveric24, When is your CS? I believe you have chances of getting interviews, but since you don't have USCE you should try to find a rotation, so that if you get any call you'll have something going on, and possibly a letter to show. Not Having CS, no USCE, needing visa is of course not a very good combination...but your step 1 is good enough to get some calls.... Most IVs are coming in the next few weeks... so hang in there and try to improve your CV doing an observership/externship or wathever you find, because if you do not get some calls then you'll have already something filling this gap. Probably your MSPE/transcript will help. wish you the best of luck buddy.
