Hey all…
So im finally done….
With step 1 that is,…
So here is my exam experience..
Not much to it really…
Arrived at test centre at -8:10 am… test started at 9:05 am..
First block average….
2 block average..
3 block almost made me get up and leave…it wasn’t hard..it was awful..
didn’t have a as per say “easy” block..
now for a breakdown as for subject representation..
plenty of micro..4 in each block easily..some very very scary virology..not in kln and def not in fa... also lots of unsual critters..the one u kinda overlook in ur last min review...
anatomy.. two mri’s, one arteriogram..4 cts.. also some textual ques. i can say around 2-4 in a block..most really easy..identify where the lesion is(the stem tell u about hemiparesis etc).
genetics was evenly spread out all over the blocks…4-6 ques per block…
immuno a total of 7 ques…in the whole exam..
biochem…2-4 ques per block..
lots of graphs… I think around 5 pharm and atleast 5 physio
pharm 2-4 ques.. per block..
bs a grand total of 8 ques in the whole test.. all of em pt -doc ethics(really really easy.. oh joy!)…2 on drugs 1 on alcohol..
but before u get the wrong idea… let me juts clarify. .i had 18 statistics ques…
15 in the first 3 blocks alone.. bam !!! almost burst into tears by the time I was done with the 3 block..
AIDS.. in all its grisly glory..everything about it..oppurtunistic inf,viro,immuno,even a ques corelating DM with aids!1 no idea of it..just piked b and moved on..
after that came path and physio… it was there but a lot of ques that started out with path ended up with biochem or mol bio…so all in all cant say the exam was biased towards any sub..mostly pathphysio and then mol bio
a lot of ques ended up asking the mol; bio regardless of the disease…
and atleast for mol bio…kln wasn’t enuff…for everything else.. kln ..all the way….
otherwise the”bible’ fa didn’t do much either…it just didn’t cut it..for my exam..
if there is one source I can say is the one not to b missed…its uw!
that thing hit home on so many ques..it was freaky…!!!
i had plenty of time to finish my blocks.. even goin bac to re-read the marked ques and still have a few min to spare..
didnt take too many breaks.. dont like breaking the flow..when i take examz.
.did the first 2 blocks in one go.. then took a break for 5 min..after the 3 block took a break for 20 min just to calm myself.. (almost ran away here ..but the guard kept giving me glances which meant"im watching u!" ,had to gather my courage and walk bac in..)
after that kept taking breaks after every block for 5 min just to gather my shui..
now ..what I think I should And shouldn’t have done…
I pretty much did everything all the ppl on the forum and otherwise tell us repeatedly NOT to do..
Didn’t sleep properly.
Didn’t eat a proper breakfast.
Kept trying to cram last tit bits of fa till I reached the centre…
Don’t do it ppl!!!!!!
The exam is an endurance test …u have to b alert till the last block… I was so tired and so grumpy…I kept reading the same line without even trying to understand wat was being asked..kept shaking my head so hard..the proctor(sweet girl) kept a special watch on me for fear I mite crack my head on the screen or something..lolz..
My biggest mistake… extending the damn thing …!!!
I was totally burned out in the last 20 days… forgot even the stuff I was really gud at like immuno .. and boy did that make me mad during the exam.. seeing a ques I knew I had the answer to but just couldn’t remember.. argh!!!!
Anehows..wats done is done…no use crying over it… im not really sure wat to expect…
No matter wat the result… gotta keep moving…
(ps..on a hissy fit note…didn’t help my nerves one bit when another girl kept gushing…”oh wow..im so lucky!i havent got a single statistic equ in the 4 blocks I’v done!)..ggrrrrrrrr!!!!
will try to keep my fears bottled up till the results… no use freaking out rite now…
one last thing…
plz plz plz.. don’t get scared reading all the above… everyone has a diff exam!! totally diff…just becoze fa didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it wont work for u… just do ur kln really well.. then last ten days do fa and uw…ur all set!

CONGRATS,for just getting over that big nerdy exam of step1 ,yeah true u dont need to go back,u took nice start,tried ur best and a very happy ending waiting for u ...ALL best buudy 
heartily thanks for sharing very wise bit of advices,coz i am the same ,read all post and too nerd to stick to my stick prep and gettin freak out easily
