Dear bbb, I entered the US on a B2 tourist visa and I have just filed for Adjustment of status/Green card/Work permit today. I put B2 as my current visa on my ERAS profile at the beginning, but now that I have filed for green card, my current status is better described as "B2 pending adjustement of status". Should I change my current visa status to "Other" or "Immigrant" or just leave it as B2? Thank you in advance.

Change your visa status to the visa status that you will be working under.

You mean to change my current visa status to as if I already have GC even though I do not have it right now? Wouldn't that bring up confusion?

You could speak to your lawyer about it as to when you would possibly be getting it. He would be in a position to tell you when the plausible time would be based on the trend and also what visa to mention. If he says you could mention EAD, then I think you may. Good luck!

He said I am "Pending AOS (adjustment of status)", which is like a transitional status between nonimmigrant to immigrant status while the petition is approved. But I am still on legal status. So I think it fits more into "Others" in the options offered by ERAS for current visa status. But I am not sure. Any opinions?

Whendid he say you would possibly get it? I mean any nearby time, say by Nov or Dec. And Is it something equivalent as EAD? Because these days EAD are being 'usually' being issued within the 90 day period. If you can get it by say Oct or Nov, i.e., by ur interview time then I think its okay you mention it as ur current visa status. And if ur 'pending AOS' is something different from EAD (employment authorisation document), then mention as 'others'.

Yeah EAD is different from "pending AOS".
