2 cousins have 1/4 of their gene in common. multiplying by 2, (1/4 x 1/4) you get 1/8.
i am not very sure in my answer. i will like someone to confirm

We share 50% or 1/2 of our genes with our parents and they inturn share 50% or 1/2 from their parents or our grandparents. So we share 25% or 1/4 of our genes with our grandparents.( 1/2 x1/2)

For first cousins since they have same grandparents they share 1/2x1/2x1/2 = 1/8
Between siblings it is 1/2 or 50%
