i have finished one read of the kaplan notes, have done some dvds, not all of them and have finished UW 75%. i have two questions. Q1.this is my first time while doing the UW and i score around 50-52% on an average.where do i stand with that score?those are all unused questions in tutor mode. Q2.how many more months should i give to my prep?i am planning to take it in mid-october.i know a lot of people would respond by saying that i would be the best judge of that but please,i want some honest, worthwhile responses.give me a very candid opinion as to how i should proceed. reply soon please.i am in a fix here.

multifactorial take NBME and see where you stand. Based on your result on the NBME you can extend or decide to take the exam. people say to have significant improvement from your NBME result you need atleast 3 weeks b/n the NBME and the exam.

As a friend this is what I have notice THIS year. People scoring in the 50's and few in the low 60's in UW have faile the test, thats right FAILED the test. I know you guys are use to see people in the 50's and pass and in 60's and pass with more than 200, but ALL OVER the internet this year I have seen for step2ck people failing the test. If you do not beleive me just google and go over all the places that are usmle related. now this is for step2 ck. and not trust people that only have one post and is I got 99 and use UW nad had only 55. Also what I have notice is that for step2 ck the NBME is not as helpful as in for step1. oonly the nbme3 for step2cck the other two peope score in the 440 and FAILED the test. Now there are many people that still have 55 and get 220 in the exam. this is just my sincere observantion as a friend. GOGETA

thanks a lot Gogeta.i agree with you,we generalize UW scores a little too much.nothing guarantees a good score on the real exam.ok,anyone else?

multifactorial, I would suggest you to postpone your exam date. You really need time to review UW for several times with a 50 something score. I got only around 59 for UW for my step 1, but I took almost two more months to review. Best of luck.

UW is not a good tool to predict the final score but if u have got 50 u have to be careful. Multifactorial first of all u should fix your aim. is it passing, 85 or 95 or 99 ! my opinion is -If it is just passing, i think mid october is fine. just cram first aid well in the days remaining. -if u want 85-95 u really need to work hard till mid october and then take NMBE 1 week before the exam. -and for 99 (yes it is possible) i would advise that u really really learn every page of first aid and every question of UW by heart. u r bound to be between 95 to 99. that might mean postponing your exam

You keep asking for help, but I noticed that the forum for CK is very different than step 1 forum. It is not very helpful and people don't write with that much passion anymore. It is understandable. The closer to the residency, the more tense. Also for the first step the people are more like friends in the same situation. By the end of the steps they are more like competitors for residency. This is my feeling though. Hopefully I am wrong. Speaking of scores and prediction of the exam I am just in the very begining of my step 2 preparation, so I have no idea how the questions for that exam are made. I just follow the forum and cannot find good answers, I was able to find in the step 1 forum. Good luck!!!

You don't have to. Every forum is about opinions, right.

Hey multifactorial! Go to this link to estimate your score based on your results now. http://www.medfriends.org/step1_estimator/ FA sucks, stick with Sectrets>this book is new FA for step 2ck.
