Hi ,
i wrote my diary while preparing for ck and that greatly helped me remain disciplined in my prep.
I am starting my step 3 prep today and wish to take it in nov. Though I am not sure when I can be ready ..as I prepare I will be in a better position to decide when I can be ready. My Csa result is awaited and Im expecting it in mid oct.
My prep material will be UW, crush step 3 and Ck kap notes. I took ck 3 months ago so Im not sure how much I will need to refer to my CK notes.
Im going to add on this list as I prepare because Im still looking around if anything else could be useful for step 3...any other MCQ source...etc.
anyone in my boat can join me in this jornal , it will be a great motivation.

I am also awaiting my CS results in mid October.Started preparing for step 3 in August.I have finished the UW mcqs and the Kaplan question bank for step 3.I am attaching the answers to the questions in the step 3 booklet.

thanks lost in usa for the moral support.
I couldn't do much in last 2 days, Im quite upset about that. I also feel frustrated for having lost time in the application proceduire and all. I have to just begin my prep and am not getting the whole nice time for that too. I just have half days in the week days unlike CK when I was always all day free to study. So i need to be smart and active this time.
Monday I will be busy whole day in other things. So this weekend I must finish my CCS cases any how. I know its difficult but I will. then later I will keep revising them, some every day
Hey rita and doc clotaire..have you heard of premier review and Swanson..and steps 123..I am planning to buy all of these..will it be a good idea?

Hi docnikki---So, you are back!!! It is very good that you are starting ur journal again to inspire me!
I got my step2 score recently and have to prepare for my step 3. I would like to join you in ur journal. My second year of MPH is started and things are going crazy.I would have only 3-4 hours per day at the max for step 3. Anyways, I would like to write here sincerely.
Lets begin with our daily Targets!!!!

just finished step 2 couple of days ago
want to start step 3 asap and give exam in nov
i just noticed that step 3 UW q bank doesnt have the ccs as it is in the usmle cd. so from where to practice it??
also i checked kaplan step 3 q bank and they seem to have only mcq's?
i am just so confused
can anyone please clarify?

Hi Sprnt nice to see you thanks for joining in. Me too have very little time per day as compared to Ck but im sure we will do it. if we head in the right direction by all means and with all the energy.
welcome to my journal doc 08. I knew that UW step 3 has both CCS and MCQs but am not sure about kaplan step 3. I will check and let you know.

People told me I need to be ECFMG certified to be eligible to enrol for step 3! Now I see you are studying for step 3 and you are not certified yet.

hi all visitors of this diary. Im really sorry for not being in touch for the past days. I was very busy in certain things and travelling. Now Im back to study sincerely. I'm making a new beginning from today.
Nadia Im not ECFMG certified yet as I didn't get my csa result but one can always prepare for step 3 without being certified and then take the test once being certified. Hope you got it.
Oct 4th Thursday.
Today I plan to start with UW MCQs. lets see how many I do as I only have a few hours before this day ends and then I will make my daily targets from tomorrow accordingly.
My sources are UW MCQs and CCS cases, Crush, ck notes and washington manual ( which I havent refered so far). will add on as needed. GL TO ALL!!

Hey docnikki----Good to see you back! I haven't touched my books yet since too much of things are happening around---I am working as a Research Assistant 10 hrs/week and Teaching Assistant 20 hrs/week and taking MPH courses too. I have to fit step 3 in my schedule. No other go. I was quite disappointed that you were not continuing ur journal---Hope you do daily to motivate me!

Sure i will be at my best daily and hope that will motivate you. maybe in the initial days I amy not pick up the ck speed but hope to do thereafter. Im back to india and experincing some jet lag. will do my best. I wish you the best too. you are multitasking and I feel you are full of lots of energy. I'm sure you can manage everything nicely. best of luck to you. i've just started preparing for step3 as well. started with UW mcq's... but going very slowly.. also waiting, as you and nadia for cs score hopefully next week.
i'll pop in from time to time. i hope i can find the motivation i need one of these days. i took a long needed break after cs abt 2 months, traveled alot and well my mind is still set on that.. planning trips going places etc... but we only live once after all..
okay time to become serious once more.. i want to think that step3 is the last one, and this surely helps. one more and we are all done and can take care of other, more imp things in life.

Goodmoring. welcome alexe. I have the same story as you. I'm also tking it as the last one while waiting for cs results and had lots of traveling and fun after CS. Now back to studies with lots of positive energy and self motivation.
Yesterday evening I managed to do a block of UW ER quest. scored 66% untimed. I dont even know how it corelates with final score.
My plan is to do 2-3 blocks every day along with crush step 3 and kap CK (IM & Pedia) notes which I havent decided at what pace Im gonna do. will do and decide for the next day.

yesterday my internet connection wasdown so couldn't do my UW blocks . but read cush IM did 20 pages and revised some of my UW ck notes too. I feel a little low today seeing the uncertainty of the match process. I need H1 too and have no step 3 score and no US lors with me yet..I feel i shouldn't have applied and wasted money. if not this time, next time will have to pay again..and Im using my parent's precious money so it's kinda painful.
anyways I have to focus! today I have the internet and after losing half the day I plan to make use of the other half in the best possible manner.
target for today--> 2 blocks of UW + 15-20 pages of crush + 5 CCS cases.

hello how do u find usmleworld?
i'm doing it topic wise in timed mode.. finding it really tough.. did cardio, endocrine and derm.. average is 58% really demoralized

Nikki----Don't worry..I am also in the same boat and I used to think like --"Whatever we could do, we had done-Hereafter, nothing is in our hands "---But have to complete Step 3 asap.
Yesterday DID completed my target.

Thanks sprint for the encouraging words. I totally agree. Dr.georgie, Im finding UW similar to ck UW and its a kind of revision going on for me. I'm doing it not exactly topic wise but like I pick ER and mix all topics in that section and i too do it timed. Scoring in 50s-60s. 58% is not bad and don't be demoralized with UW score I am telling you from ck experience. try to learn the concepts and forget about the score. IT DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL BELIEVE ME.
hi medukuk, I don't know about FA..haven't used it for step 3 and don't plan to use it. though from others I heard that its good for a quick review of CCS cases.
Oct 8th Monday,
yesterday I completed my target. I have made alittle change in my strategy because now Im going to include my ck notes in my timetable.
today's target is-->
1) GI from kaplan CK notes + UW CK notes + Crush step3
2) Endocrine from kap Ck notes + UW ck notes + Crush step 3
3) UW step 3 2 blocks
4) CCS cases (4-5 of them)
I have set a huge target and even if I finish 70% of the above i'll be happy to sleep at night.

hi docnikki,
i have finally received my cs pass score so now i am finally ready to start step3 prep full speed.. im planning on studying for abt two months and take the test. im waiting for my certification and ill apply for step3 as soon as it comes in. i will be using the same materials as you.
so far, i have started on uw mcqs but have gone slowly being anxious for cs. after each exam i just had to take a break of at least the waiting time length but now i have no excuse anymore. we have to make it and step3 is the very Last one and then we will say bye bye to the usmle and mind other things in life.
i think you are doing great and have studied alot so far but i have high hopes that i can speed us too. ill just focus on st3 for the next two months and nothing else. i wanted to ask you do you have crush in electronic format?
so good luck to you and if you dont mind ill post my progression in your diary.
