i would say it is best to take the step 1 first... even if you have broad clinical experience!!! of course everything is possible and you could do good on both even if you take ck first, but you learn so much basic stuff for the step 1 that will definetely help you with your ck prep... good luck!

Which number comes first-1 or 2? Go in the right order. One doc in the hospital I work said to me:you are crazy to study for step1. I failed on that one. Start studying for the canadian exams and step2. They are more clinical and easy. Anyways, I didn't listen to him. The fact he failed is his problem, not mine. I passed step1 and now I am preparing for step2. Yes, it is true especially in Canada, they tell students that starting with step2 will help for the canadian exams, but............but usually IMGs have very low scores, because they skipped step1. Of course, there are successful stories, but the statistics says that it is better 1 and than 2.

I honeslt am not sure it really matters. Yes, there were some step I questions on Step II, very simple questions in fact (simple in the set up: short to the point), although by the time I took step II I had forgotten the answers! Otherwise, I think step II is self-contained enough it doesn't matter. There is some pharmacology which you could learn from FA for the step I, but otherwise, it should be ok. That having been said, I took them in order One more thought, when you apply for residency, if you have not finished (or gotten your scores) for both yet, programs rate you based on your step I score. They also use your step II, but you can get interviews with only a step I score, I don't know about only a step II score.

They look more for step2 scores than step1 scores, because is clinical and they know how we are low in basics sciences. You may read about step1 score and is because many AMG may apply wile waiting for their step2 scores

Your step 1 prep will help you a lot in your step 2. I suggest you do that first. Plus, I think its the most difficult to prepare for of the three(inc ck & cs) because we have to go back to the basic sciences. I felt it was better to get it out of the way first.
