HI everybody, I am new to this forum but I was so amazed with all the nice help you guys give on this space.
I have a question here, I passed my st.1 and 2 CK, waiting for the results of CS which hopefully will be available early October, I have ERAS token ,,but shall I start applying now or shall I wait till my results r back puting in consideration that my scores are very average (80 and below)
Thanks for the help, I am confused and I think I will be rejected if I apply now,,!!

hi simpson! It depends on your confidence level of CS exam that you have just taken. If you feel you are pretty okay, you should apply aleast one or all programs that you selected ( bjg money spending ). If you feel worst about the CS exam, you should also apply some programs to get experience at least.
For me, I have the same situation like yours. step 1 score is low, step 2 CS is pending for upcoming October. I have tried to apply some programs in Sept 1st. You know what, i got first IM intereview invitation yesterday.
one more thing, your decision of application doesn't harm you by any way. So, just try ASAP good luck

I am in a similar situation Simpson. Have taken my boards, still waiting for CS results. From what I hear, the CS doesnt really differentiate whether you will get an interview or not. Most programs will make up their minds based on Step 1/CK scores. Even if you fail CS, programs wont really care as long as you can get ECFMG certified by ranking.
If I were you, Id go ahead and apply. The only drawback you and I have is that some programs must overlook us because they want ECFMG certificate. Other than that, if you're determined to match in 2008, Id go full force into the game.
Good luck.......

Thanks alot Zrf .... what u say is right....Lethru ur opinion is appreciated here....So if the program already set criteria for application as being ECFMG certified... Does this means if we applied to those programs they may reject us for that reason (not having the certificate ready) ?? What I wanna say that may be it's better to wait for those programs asking for the certificate, instead of being rejected for that reason,, Right?

^^^^ Personally, I applied to those programs anyway. A lot of them say, "ECFMG by interview" or "ECFMG by rank list". Im "assuming" we would have the certificate by then; obviously, we cant practice without it.
So I would go ahead and apply regardless UNLESS programs specifically state for "ECFMG certification at time of application". Those are the ones Id avoid. 'Chennaidoc- did a wonderful job of creating a master list on blogspot (?). Find his website, and he actually mentions whether some programs want the certificate at APPLICATION time.
Good luck.

Thanks mann81....It seems I wasn't the only 1 ,but I didn't apply yet as I just have 3 LORs from back home from my college professors and non from the US.. you think LORs from back home are enough....may be not. Do you think I still can apply without getting atleast 1 US LOR?? Please advise.

^^^ YES ! Every candidate is different. Please dont sell yourself short because you think you dont match up with other applicants and the credentials (including LORs) that they have. You have 3 LORs. That is great......congrats. Now go into match full force.
If you happen to get another letter down the road, then just upload it. If not, woh cares. Im sure you'll get plenty of calls based on your scores.
Good luck........

^^^^ MSPE's are not released until November 1st FOR ALL GRADS, regardless of IMG or AMG. As soon as November 1st hits, your MSPE will become available to all the programs you've applied to. Dont fret, my friend. You're playing it right.
