hi,
i am an IMG and passed out in 1996 and after that finished my MD in 2000 in OBGYN.
and now preparing for usmle after a long break of 3 years.
I read all the post of AFTER EXAM experiences, and than read FA.
I am not able to decide in which way i should start my studies.
I can devote 6-9 months of time period and regular 4-5 hours for studies.
i made 2 plans...but nat able to decide which one is better??

1. take web prep and kaplan notes go thru'it in the 1st 3 months and repeated revision of this material in the next 2 month, along with first aid and finally in the last month take Q bank and different assessment tests.
of course i can add BRS patho & GOLjan notes, somewhere but when??
Another plan might take little longer...but is it worth??
2. finish all the books in fist 2-3 months like
FA
BRS patho,
BRS physio,
micro made rediculously simple,
biochem & pharma lippincott,
NMS genetics,
BRS beh sci,
HY neuroanatomy,
Levinson Immunology,
HY enbryology
than take web prep (in next 4 months)
and finally take Q bank & assessment tests.
my concern is...
is it too late to start with kaplan ??
and OF COURSE i wont be able to go thru the same material again & again.
so please help ASAP,FOR study material and timing of study, which books first... ????
as u all know, being an IMG,score is really important for me.
thanks

My recommendation would be do Kaplan notes first revision and then pick up the others as you mentioned and then do Kaplan again, then you will be able to have all covered and you wont be lagging.

I first gave a reading of FA, then Kaplan and then added the other books, and then finished in the same way with Kaplan and then FA.

all the best,
Meg
