Hello,
Can you please tell me based on experience what should i expect?
I am going to name a few places that have sent invitations to alot of people. If i havent got invitations from these places until now can i still get it later?
Kingsbrook, st barnabas, seton hall, crozer chester, suny upstate im, caritas carney, interfaith, wyckoff.
Frankly, i think since they have invited so many people alraedy and i did not make the cut, my chances of getting these interviews is bleak now. Is there anyone in the same boat?
The reason i am so worried about these places is that these arent that good programs and were my only hope. Its scary if they ahve ignored me. Any comments!
Thank you.

They invite lots of applicants, especially St Barnabas (last year 400 invited and 30 selected).

I heard that interview is very short, they just want to see how good applicants look, then offer prematch.

So if you are handsome (male) or pretty (female), tall, average shape, apply to them hahah (just joking).

Good luck.

Hi priya,
I know people would think i'm whining for nothing as these places aren't that good but i dont need UNI good programs or even fellowships. I just need a residency in one of those states fast due to family situation. I know these 99ers are never going to accept residencies at these places, programs should be smart enoiugh to send invites to people who can really match with them.
Arghhhh im going crazy.....

mph...wht other univs hv sent invites already?

  #7

mph, with your credentials i dont think they should call you and waste your time.wink

But for others, should i start calling these programs and ask about my status?

I believe it is early.... I think some program coordinators don't mind if you call, but others maybe just don't like that... Anyways, I would call at some point but later....Maybe PDs are reviewing the "most competitive" applications now and then they'll look the next ones... Programs receive around 2000-4000 applications....So maybe it is too early, considering this is an almost 7-months process.

This is how it works, folks. And please correct me if Im wrong OR offend anybody. Lets use HOSPITAL A as a prime example on this:

On September 1st, [blank] amount of people sent in their applications to ERAS. On Sept. 3-5th, HOSPITAL A started downloading these applications. NOTE: the interview season has just begun.....not many hospitals (actually, 0 to be exact) have handed out interviews as of yet.

HOSPITAL A takes advantage of this moment. Knowing that most applicants are "fresh" and are just willing to get the ball rolling, they send out invitations to as many 90-99ers as possible. NOTE: if they were to send those SAME applicants an invitation in November/December, a lot would deny it because of HOSPITAL A's credentials, reputation, PLUS the many other interview options that applicants already have.

HOSPITAL A's OBJECTIVE: Lure as many uninformed applicants into signing pre-match contracts as possible. So the first batch of applicants come in for interview, and lets assume 1 or 2 students sign the contract. HAHAHAHAHA.......says HOSPITAL A's director Now we have 2 positions filled.

Now HOSPITAL A will go after the next batch of applicants, and try to lure them into signing. Maybe this time, though, the criteria will be focused on the 85-90ers. And it will become a repetitive cycle UNTIL.......the REAL interview season (November/December) begins. Then applicants become busy, and less are seeking to waste their time in a place like HOSPITAL A. Now HOSPITAL A starts to look at applications more seriously, and the rest of us have a shot at it.

So I ask...........I already know you'd jump at a chance to interview at HOSPITAL A NOW, but how would you respond when they ask you in December, when you've interviewed at 5-10 other places, and dont really have time for a hospital that you might not rank ? wink

Someone correct me if they think Im out of place. I apologize if Ive offended anyone.

hey zrf,
Be it sep, oct, nov, dec, my answer to hospital A is the same "Pick *me*. Choose *me*, Love *me*" (borrowed from "Grey's anatomy's" Dr. Meredith)winkwink
