Hi, I am waiting for my CK result on the 19th of Sept, after which I`ll apply (step 1 99 , cs pass). should I apply on the 19th itself of should I wait for the ecfmg certificate. I know Ill already very late, so Im not sure if I should delay further for ECFMG certification, How imp is it to be to certified?

If ECFMG already has your med school verification, you will be certified once you get your step2 score- and they mail the ECFMG cert to you (which might take a week or so) but you can already see your status updated online - so shouldnt be a problem to apply on 19th

thank you for your reply. ECFMG has already received the verification from my school.

So does that mean I will be certiified on the 19th itself?

I am also in the same boat----So, will it take 2 weeks for ECFMG certification after step2 results? Is there any procedure for that oe else will it occur automatically?

It will occur automatically if your degree has been verified which is mentioned in oasis.

and how long does it take to get the degree verified once ur form 327A has reached back to ECFMG?

varies highly from college to college and countries. For india and pakistan i have heard stories from 3 weeks to 6 months. sometimes it gets lost in mail and you would have to request ecfmg to send another copy for verification again. some tips are:

ecfmg will let you know when it sends degree for verification. contact your college then onwards regularly.

some people evven made a dhl or fedex account and requested ecfmg to use that to send reqquest to medical college and similarly gave it to college to send it back.

there are many old threads related which you can search.

I paid my college the cost of bluedart/dhl so once the documents reached my college i asked a helpful junior to keep track and within 7 days the documents were off to ECFMG back in DHL courier. and since it was from the college side they were able to give me a discount on International courier nod

So u guys can keep track. Also ECFMG sends a self addressed envelope, but its better to spend 1000Rs and courier it rather then waiting for the self addressed envelope to reach ECFMG in God knows how much time from India/Pakistan

See, it takes a couple of days for the update. I waited for my step 1 score (the only thing missing in order to get certified) and when the score came I applied to programs on the next day (thinking oh, I am already certified). Several days later I saw on MyEras that the ECFMG report has been replaced (quote): with a newer, updated version, meaning it took them several days to update the ecfmg certification status. But the thing is: apply!!! even if they update it later, the programs will get the updated version too!

I am waiting for my CK result on 19th September.
I have applied quite a few programs.
I will apply more as soon as I receive my CK result.
Can't wait for certificate.

Once ECFMG receives the form back from your school it takes 6-8 weeks until they say "yes" or "no". If it needes to be re-sent to your school means more delay.
