Chiqui, congratulations for your prematch to your dream program! Pray that your child will recover completely and celebrate his birthday and your success soon!

Hey everyone. Thanks for the good wishes. Baby boy has been better the last few days. Upper GI series was unrevealing. Celebrated his first b-day this weekend with a big Pirates of the Caribbean Bash! Its was awesome. We had patches for all the kids plus hooks, telescopes, hats, bandanas, etc. Pony rides and pirates, hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn. It was a real carnaval. The kids had a good time.

very nice! chiqui... now relax.... and don't worry, babies are very resilient if the GI series are not very informative,it is very likely that whatever it is will wearoff with time!

hey girls what is going on in your lifes? why is everybody so quiet? So far I can tell you that I have recovered my tranquility, now after the ROL certification deadline is gone, I am much better and my nails are growing back (thank goodness) the match for people like us is on the 17 and once I get my email stating that I matched, you will hear from me again.
Please those of you taking steps or thinking on doing it, or whoever is out there still running for the match please send proof of life!

Hi, girls...

Hi Friends ,

I hope I could join you all . Well , though not a mommy right now , but will be in few months smiling face Now that I m passing through the hardships of pregnancy and getting ready for the joys of motherhood ,I really appreciate you all for being so strong and lovely .

I am 12 weeks , really struggling with nausea and vomitting and my prolonging the dates of my step 3 sad I know I am silly but can anyone tell me when will I feel better shaking head ?? As all of you have been thriugh this.Nothing seems right now, cant put anything down, anxiety of matching taking over me ( just had one interview ,,still hoping so much from itsad....) I have been prolonging my step 3 since january..

How all of you have managed to be strong, been thruogh these exams and still being such good mommies?? Everything is coming down on me ,,I really doubt my self now disapproval...What should I do of step 3? I already have an attempt on step 1 sad, cant redo that terrible mistake..

I am so sorry to let out these feelings and trouble you all.I really wish you all luck for the match and pray that all of you get what you have wished and worked hard for smiling face....

All my pregnancies got better from the 16th week on, if that's what you want to know. wink

Good luck on match day. If you don't need to pass the step 3 because of visa issues, either study hard for the next 4 months and give it, or let it to be done after one year of residency. Studying with a newborn would be very difficult, at least for me, because I breastfed my kids and didn't have a lot of sleeping time.

But each person manages in a different way, it's difficult to predict.

Welcome Taurus82. For both of my pregnancies I felt a little green for the first trimester, and like magic, it all disappeared at about 14 weeks. Felt like a million dollars the second trimester. The step/match process is very stressful - try to keep stay focused and really try to enjoy this time in your life because it really doesn't last very long at all. There will always be big stressors in life - health, work, marriage, etc. Heck - if all goes acording to plan, you will be a PGY-1 during your baby's first year, so that right there is a lot! For me, integrating motherhood into life has been about remembering that, if God allows my kids to grow up healthy, safe and happy, I have no interest in having anything else at all. Hang in there and feel free to post about the fun parts of being pregnant and planning for a first child.

As for me, "Hi" to everyone. My son, who has been sick, continues to have good days and bad days. We are thinking he might have food allergies. Instead of studying for my exams I spent the day yesterday boiling cows legs and peeling chick peas to make him food that the old women around here tell me will help settle his stomach. I'm resorting to folk remedies at this point. He liked it.

Kisses to all. Stay yummy mummies!

Taurus82 - try to mellow out a little so that you can enjoy the "spiritual" part about being pregnant. It sounds goofy, but for me, being pregnant was a highly spiritual experience. Put down the books every now and then and open up "What to expect when you're expecting" or the La Leche League bible "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding".

Anagarcia: I know I don't know you, but would you believe that I am anxiously hoping you match into OBGYN? I believe the world needs OBs who have a sense of calling ("vocacion"), and who would want to do nothing else but OB. OBGYNs see 1/2 the population of the world at one point or another, and yet most of the one's I've been to are not very nice, don't seem to care very much about women, and have never been pregnant themselves. So please, promise us that when you match into OB you will make a commitment to be sweet and compasionate.

Chiqui I am tearful now !!! you really got me , thanks for those lovely words... I very much valorate what you just said, and I hope I will not disappoint you or any other mom in this forum or in my future practice. I think that being away from patients for so long is what made me realize that I just want to be an obstetrician and to make a serious commitment towards my future patients. Thank you for your prayers and your sincere support... I don't know you but I pray for your child every day, and I was very happy that you got your offer.
And I completely agree with you pregnancy is THE time to reconnect with your spiritual self and to discover the love of God in your child. I also read both books (what to expect when you are expecting and the womanly art of breastfeeding) and now I am rereading them both in preparation for my new girl.

  #164

Anagarcia - ARE YOU PREGNANT!?!?!?!?! (Did I know this before?, Did I forget?)
BTW - how are our other pregnant friends doing? Where is our friend with the twins?

Hi chiqui...
I think you forgot. yes I am pregnant... to be specific I am 30 wks so very much pregnant.

Ummah... Thank you for your good wishes... and do not worry, just visualize yourself getting your first year position in the scramble. focus on it. prepare and God will help you. If at the end you don't get it, well you didnt this year, but now you will get another opportunity next year, being stronger, with step3 , and not pregnant , hopefully with nice letters.
As Arlete says... it too shall pass... ( she actually teaches me nice things every time)
So take it one day at the time, enjoy your kids. They are more important than anything else. You will find a way to get where you want. Just calm down, try to be objective and also keep the faith. It will happen in the best possible time.

Thanks chiqui, yeah being spiritual and thinking the good things gives me strength. Though now and then I really miss my parents, cos back in my home country a pregnant woman is pampered so much , and with everyone around and making you realise what a joy she brings to entire family makes the pregnancy blues vanish in a blink .

But I am really glad , even though I donot know you all , but all of you are being so nice to me smiling face.

Ana, congratulations !! for the l`l angel coming your way nod..

Ummah, I know you would be stressed out . But hey hang in there ,, I am sure you would be better soon , cos now I have started to have 2-3 hrs in a day which are nausea freewink. Good luck for the scramble ,, me too preparing for it as I just had one interview. I am sure will be able to idealise your step 3 plan soon toocool..

so ,once again thank you everyone here being such a big support . May God bless you all and gibve you your desired positionssmiling face...

hey friends check this out !!

  #175

Ana - I'm sorry I spaced your pregnancy. Congratulations!!! Your daughter will have a sister! I will make a special batch of Horchata in order to celebrate. Then we will have to have a special e-shower for you after the match.

Taurus - pregnant women ARE special, no matter where you are. If you aren't feeling special, then stop and take a few minutes to meditate and reconnect with what's happening. You will do nothing in this world as important as shaping your kids, starting from the time of conception. The way you respond to stimuli, to stressors, to anxiety, to success and to adversity - all of that will contribute towards shaping this child's life. So congratulations - you are officially a very important person now. So relax and take pride in yourself. Its good practice so that you can soon teach your child how to take pride in him or herself. Come hang out here as often as you need some encouragement.

What specialty did you apply to, and in what states?
