I join the group... are the programs requiered to reply to all aplicants?
just wondering

sad

Hi friends,
No, programs are not required to reply to all applicants. If you don't hear from them, it's either they're still reviewing your appl or they are just not interested but not bother sending you a rejection. Keep on waiting...

"And what was the urge to apply on Sept 1??? "

Part of the urge is the whole paranoia related to the application (and I am not sure if AMGs and IMGs are the same, or it's just IMGs). Those who applied late in the season, with average credentials, but still got interviews and matched, are probably more likely to tell you not to hurry than those who applied Sept 1st 12:00 am, had good credentials but still did not match.

You got to understand that there are so many factors affecting the outcome of this process, and the date of the application may or may not be one of them, depending in turn of several other factors.

What I dissaprove the most is the fact that, because it starts so early (10 months before the actual residency starts), the last year of medical schoool (for those who are still students) does not really matter in this process. In my native part of the world, you get to have 6 solid years of medical school, then the licensing examinations, then no work for several months until the testing for residency is scheduled.

I am ready to accept Sept. 1st as the beginning of the application process (even though the programs may wait for a few more weeks, mortly probably to give time to AMGs to get their tests together), but I am less open to the deadline for accepting applications. Why on earth many programs state the deadline in January/February 2008, when the whole thing will be arranged way before that. Why won't they officially say the deadline is end of November?
