A 25 -year -old woman comes to you for pap smear for the first time. She is sexually active with many partners and
uses barrier methods for contraception. She has no other health issues and her past history is significant for an STD 4
months ago. She drinks alcohol “off and on ”,smokes 1pack/day/4years. During the conversation she says that she

doesn ’t like to see doctors often unless it is really life threatening. The result of the pap smear shows mild dysplasia.
What is the next best step in the management of this patient?

A. Repeat pap smear in 4 months
B. Ultrasound abdomen

C. Cone biopsy
D. Colposcopy

E. Endocervical curettage
F. Ectocervical biopsy

G. Regular pap smear in one year

D coloposcopy ...

every patient with abnormal pap smear has to undergo colposcopy to magnified 10-12 times .... with acetic acid .. if any changes seen do biopsy after doing endocervical curretage

acc to case patient is surely going to b non compliant she doesnt go to doc unless its life threatening .... as the question is best step in this patient i wud go for colposcopy and not repeat pap smear ... as u never know whether she comes or not next time for pap smear...

if it was not given patients compliance and smoking history and multiple sexual partners i wud have gone for repeat pap smear.....

this is wat i think ...
