Hello, 43y/o US citizen FMG Grad 2006..took USMLE step 2 and CS april 2007. Well I am not a high scorer..I passed step 1 after 3rd attempt (was in wreck and bleeding internally 2nd attempt missed by one point!), pased step 2ck first attempt, passed CS second attempt... Went through match did not match...went through scramble no call back or interveiws..yikes! Now looking into doing 6 months of clinical externships and revamping my CV and getting new and better LOR... Praying I have a chance for next year!!! Any thoughts? Is it possible???

abdo wrote: if some one has a very good score in step 2 for example more than 95 , and a low score in step 1 from 75 to 80 , how will be his chances ?as some say step 2 score is more important ,will the good score in step 2 treat anything? Hi Abdo, I was in same situation with a score of 79 in step 1, but I tried hard and got 90 in Step 2 and many program directors have told me that if it was the other way around it would have been a cause for concern but good scores in Step 2 if Step 1 was bad is a good thing. I have seen statistics and they say Step 1 is important specially for IM but I think in real life every application has to have some kind of unique charm to it for the PD and all you can do is try and apply to as many places as you can hoping something in your application will catch an eye somewhere, whether it is scores or Lor or USCE or PS it all depends on individual case.

@abdo I have a friend American Medical Graduate who only pass Step 1 and got a Residency spot. During his residency program, he will take Step 2 and 3. I guess that is the reason why there are differences between IMG and AMG for Step 1 score. If your Step 2 CK score is higher 95, it is greatly appreciated by Program Director for sure. Good luck.

UW (50% of questions): 63% Kaplan notes: very few notes occasionally. Exam date: 26/March 2008. Score: 199/81 Guys please take care of saving some good time to sleep, I only slept 6 hours in the two days prior to the exam. Another advice is: If you are planning to take the exam in a different country (like I did) arrive 2 days earlier and book a hotel next to the exam site because I believe I ruined my chances partly because of the late planning. Now please and honestly I need someone to tell me if I should go with the rest of USMLE or not since I have only done the CK. Is it feasible? (in case I will work hard and plan well for 90+ in step 1 inshaa Allah). I am looking for an internal medicine residency. My other details/credentials are: Age 31 years PLAB with valid full registration with the GMC UK Part 1 MRCP BLS and ACLS (AHA) certified (recent). 1 year Locum sho/clinical attachment UK (Medicine) 4 Years Medicine/oncology in home country I would really appreciate a REALISTIC opinion from your experiences and your friends' ones. In case it is not feasible I can save the resources for a different plan instead of wasting it on the exams and travel. Thanks.
