Here is a suggested stategy to organise your learning efforts for CK2. Establish checkpoints to ensure you are in the right direction, by testing your knowledge level. If your knowledge level is short of where it ought to be, go back and read those deficient areas. This forum has lot of suggestions as to what to study and therefore they will not be mentioned here. Here are suggested checkpoints. 1. Refresh your knowledge. I used Kaplan Notes and video for this. First aid and Secrets were also used as references. (3 weeks). 2. Kaplan Q bank Questions. By the time, all questions were answered, the score should be around 65 (First time). If not, find out areas where you are deficient and improve your knowledge in those areas. (Pretest, internet reference etc). (3weeks) 3. Kaplan Q book. You should be around 65-70% range. (1 week). You should get around 70% in Kaplan simulated at this stage. 4. USMLE world. This is like the exam. If you dont have time or are sufficiently confident about your knowledge base, start here. First time pass, when you are finishing, the score should be more than 60. If not, do supplimentary reading in deficient areas. (2 weeks) 5. Time for NBME exam 1 : These exams are fairly accurate and, at this stage, one should score around 460 and above. 6. Revise all those questions you got wrong in USMLE world, Kaplan Qbank and Qbook. By now, you should be getting around 90% - 95% answers correct. (1 week) 7. Take the NBME again, the score should be around 500. If not, you need to revisit areas you are not doing well. (1 Week). I also took the USMLE test at this point. 8. Revise your notes, read your weak areas again and Once you are confident, you can take NBME 3. The score should be above 500, to guarantee you a pass in the exam. (Theoretically, you should get in high 80s or low 90s with this score, but you never know your luck). CK score estimator is good place to check where you stand during your learning. The strategy is to spread out the learning process and take tests at diffent point of time to ensure you are learning the right stuff to add to your knowledge "required" to do well in the exam. By taking tests early in the game you know your weak areas and concentrate on those areas, thereby saving time from reading unneccessary stuff. Subsequent tests will tell you if you have improved on those areas or not. There are sufficient number of tests available to evaluate yourself. Unfortunately, the test scores become somewhat meaningless if you take these tests a second time. Good luck... Your suggestions or improvements are welcome.

It all depends on areas where you are deficient. I studied first aid and secrets in detail and emedicine, harrison and some pretest (preventive medicine) for references. The forum has a lot of suggestions. My goal was to gain sufficient knowledge to take the exam. If you can answer USMLE world and Kaplan Qbank questions (100% in your second or third pass) you are quite prepared to take the exam. If you are trying for high 90s then you may need to do some additional reading. Again the forum has lot of suggestions about getting 99s.Goodluck. Please let me have your feedback after you finish the exam in Feb.

Kaplan notes are OK to enhance your knowledge base. Good to read if you are not pressed for time. UW is close to real exam in terms of difficulty and how are questions are structured. If pressed for time, skim thru Kaplan notes and concetrate on UW.
