Hey Unique , Just watch step 1 DVDS and listen to Goljan audios for step 1.
Leave the rest for step 2 . or you may get  As it is step 1 material is very vast. The step 2 material is similar to step 1 but the q's have a different approach so its not the same .Gl and when's ur test?

hey guys... i have a ques... r the dvds as imp as for step1...?? i havent bought em yet and was wondering if i should just buy for one or two sub??
ne ideas?coz i hear some of em r just repeating wats in the books...

Fara, thank you so much for answering my querry. I am still confused when to take my test. Will let you know as soon as I reach a decision. This step 1 material is so " Shaitan kee aant " (For those who do not speak Urdu , it means : " as long a Devil's intestine ". Now don't ask me who measured devi'ls intestine and how long is it )

yeaaa...6 pages of thread but 0 pages of IM till now  I guess theres no way out for me but wait till after eid

unique...if you count from the 1st day to the day you start residency...you must add up all the evils intestines in hell to express it all

I hope youre not over whelming your self with cooking these days.
How about putting a bottom line (minimum) amount to study each day which you dont allow your self to sleep unless you accomplish it? ... thats what im doing

Im just browsing through the GI chapter. Most of the stuff are what you are already familiar with. It just narrrowing down then #1s, #2s and #3 thing to do during work-up and treatment.
Also the questions on UW (and maybe on the exam) are a bit too long  and I would sometimes not notice a crucial item and miss the answer entirely. Like the question abt a patient with paralysis and i completely misread the line and thought the patients sensation was abnormal. As it was, the sensory turned out to be normal, so i missed the diagnosis of ALS and I got it wrong.

siglenn ...thats why we gotta do as much as MCQs as we can so that we wont miss any line in the end
p4a99 ... the problem is Im sleepy the whole day already as I cant drink coffee as this is my fasting month... and as we are sooo enthusiasted about this...I have guests so yes I cook anywayss...9 days left and I will be very peaceful and high-spirited in the end... my CK is on april 25 and CS on june 6 so I guess I will catch up ...
everyday I wake up and say ...ok I will read my 30 today ...and I end up with nothing !
guys...dont think Im gonna go on like this and think this is not a motivating thread ! noone can catch me after eid when I start my library and turn back to my "9:00 AM - 9:00 PM at the library" days

"The most succesful are the most vulnerable to the feeling that time is running out."
NOW DONT FREEK OUT ... I just thought that all of us should think about it.

ok been doing neuro all day. It's not so bad. CVS, MS, MG, headaches, and then I get to brain stem lesions and I got stuck for awhile. Finally I started drawing stick figures and posted them on the wall for all the lesions. So medial medullary syndrome looks like this
Lesion on the right
contralateral paralysis of arm and leg
contralateral loss of tact, vib, position
tongue deviates toward side of lesion

Hey all,
I'm a newibie to this forum and came across this journal randomly.. and this seems to be one of the most cheerful threads on this forum!
just wanted to join in the fun!!
i'm currently a final year med student from Down Under, waiting to graduate, and now I'm preparing for Step 2 CK.
It's on Nov 12, and I'm thru 57% of Qbank and 88% of UW. I've read FA a couple of times and annotated it with pearls of wisdom from UW and Qbank.
Currently wondering whether I should start reading Step-up Medicine or Kaplan IM notes (purchased both) like 30 pages a day since I haven't really got a book for IM except for FA..
anyways, just downloaded the IM Fischer questions... where are these from?
also, i've purchased Fischer's flash cards... they're pretty good at getting the feel for best intial test vs most accurate test which are NOT exactly the same thing.
anyways, nice to see that i'm not the only one going thru this character-building, gut-busting, awe-inspiring, neuron-overloading experience aka Step 2 CK prep.

well Im in Infectious Diseases right now. Its a Saturday so the kids generally leave me alone and watch TV. I tend to go back and forth between Kaplan, First-aid and sometimes Harrisons. Will do UW again on Infectious diseases after I've read the chapter (don't ask me when, though)

ok I suck in my prep for one more week I know...but I wanna share my weekend...
I built up a new room for my cutest son we played Bob the Builder it was great fun for both of us ! then we bought candies and new clothes for the eid ...eid means Ramadan over so Im a bit but Im gonna start my prep with such a high lifted up spirit !!
and then we had guests who stayed over and for you to get how silly I am when fasting... I intended to CALL THE GUESTS THAT STAYED OVER IN MY HOUSE !!!! I mean when they were still with us !!!! I was such a blondiiieee and they all teased me and had their big time fun

Ok Friends,
I wasn't able to report out of shame that I didn't study at all. I am officially declaring that I am going to restart in November coz I will go home shortly after eid and stay there till the end of October. I am going to reschedule it for early April after my return, giving myself approximately 5 months. I have almost completed surgery. But I have to do a lot. Anyway, keep praying for me. I'll keep coming here as often as I could.
