Feyza: darn. I thought you'll be taking the CK on Nov 9, I must have read your post wrong.

I did UW yesterday, all questions but in tutor mode and got around 73%. Timed 1 minute to read and answer each question but took my time reading the explantions. Better that way at least I learned something and not get mad whenever my kids would try to bug me.

  #103

Feyza keep trying ..I mean for the CS date. and try to get one as close to July 5th as possible.

Its not difficult ,people keep giving up dates. I could prepone from July 25th to May 15th.

Just keep looking. Insha allah you'll get it.

And insha allah for your other PROBLEM!wink

Its great Feyza...you have CK in April and CS in June. You gave yourself one whole month which I think is more than enough.

I am scared as I have selected March for both. First week for CK and last for CS leaving just 20 days for study. I have applied for leave so I will be studying full time, but still I don't know whether that will be sufficient or not. Anyway its too late now.

One important reason for early date was to keep some room for Step 3. I have visa issue so I may want to do that if I am so lucky to pass CK and CS in a row. Just one small question is that if I pass step 3 will that help me in getting H1-B and does it help in getting Green Card or Permanent Resident Status in US?

hmmm...it will bring you H1 but I have no clue if it will help for GC confused

most friends say 20 days is fine if you study cleverly ...dont worry ... are you planning to take that 5 days Kaplan course for CS ?? a bit expensive rolling eyes

as some friend here told...luck is < 5% in this exam...its about how much effort you put into it ...so OKOTB ... I know you will do your best as you are doing now + that 5% will be there + our Ramadan prays will work great = great scores in row nod

hows surgery goin ??

Feyza, good to see so many friends here with you. Hope you keep getting motivated to study.

Best of luck!smiling face

Thanks for the info. Surgery is going along lagging behind the schedule. I have no plans yet for the CS course. I will first have a look at the available material and then decide whether I need it or not. Mostly people are doing it without the course. How is your medicine going along? You must be busy preparing for your visit coming up. I am also packing my stuff for my very short visit just few days from now. I wonder where are other friends and what are they upto?

Hi everyone! I put down Medicine and picked up Surgery, since that will be the first rotation for me. My date got pushed so I get a couple extra weeks before I jump into the rigors of hours and hours of standing, holding retractors, checking post-op surgical wounds and drains, yadda yadda yadda. Am on third chapter of Lawrence: fluids, 'lytes, acid-base. Reminder: this is first read for me, won't be in review mode for a while. Feel out of place because of it sad Happy studying to everyone!

  #112

Welcome aboard....edie.....where are you doing surgery from? I am stuck on section one of KLN. Where are you doing rotations in surgery?

Welcome Edie.

Siglenn, yes GC makes a lot of difference .There are some programs which take only GC holders and citizens. The other programs which do sponsor H1 or J1 ,prefer GC or citizenship.

I was asking coz I have already a GCwink. Im a little bit concerned coz I got a 79 on my step 1 (on my 2nd take)confused. My review with step 2 isn't going very well and my eligibility is only up to November this year sad(already extended it from Sept). Its already October and so far I've barely finished Cardio, Endo and Hemashocked.

  #120

Hummm.......it smells good here , Buklava, Chaat and Chai grin.

OKOTB , step3 does help in getting you a H1 . I am sure you would be aware that you have to go back to your home country for 2 years after completing your residency if you are on J1.

I got a suggestion from a freind that watching step2 DVDs help you in step1 and make your step2 prep easier too. What do you guys think ?

Good luck to all of you guys and please remember me in your Ramadan prayers.

Hi OKOTB. I am a student and doing my third year clinical clerkships in the US, Chicago and Atlanta. You can PM me for more.

  #123

Thanks unique....I am little concerned about the visa issue and I am not really sure what to do about my Canadian thing coinciding with US visa procedure (like my PRCard and J1/H1 visa). I have been browsing a lot and seems that its a very difficult road ahead.
