CS before CK  hmm...dont you think I should be giving CK first so the info will help in CS ? I dont wanna hurry and goof up everything but yeaa sounds good... ru gonna do that way Faraym ?? any other inputs b4 I schedule ??

Feyza: Congrats on registering. Your period starts when mine ends so definitely I will be writing it sooner than you.
Faraym: It was a news to me that you have already done CS. Well belated congrats on that. I have it scheduled too most likely after 3 weeks of CK. I will appreciate you advice on that too. Have you registered already? If yes then which month?
Gogeta: Nice to find you here and your posts amuze us and brings life to the forum. Yes money and time are the wo most important factors in life when one comes other goes away and they always seem inversely proportional.
I have been doing Surgery not 20 pages per day bit slower but gotta pace up buddies. I am stressed after knowing I will be the first one to go if Faraym has registered later than me. Well, its good in the sense that I will have that adrenaline gush which I badly need after step one. Ok my target till tommorrow is to finish section one of it. Lets see....

Do you think it is doable? I have around 20 days after CK. My centre is Philly too. I will be needing your advice on accomodation etc later on as the time approaches. It will indeed be very helpful to a newcomer like me to US!!!

i took CS in may of this year. You definitely don't need CK before CS.. Just read through the FA for it, Then do UW for CS. They have all the videos for physical exams, and a few extra cases not seen in FA. And make sure you practise with a partner timed, this is very important. I'm glad I did this, b/c on the real test, time was a slight issue for me (while during practise sessions it wasn't)
ok starting late today  end of the month had to pay bills.

faraym: I've finished reading Kaplan Cardio, Endo and Hema. My exam is on Nov 16th and its driving me nuts! I wish my mom was here to help around the house. Basically I get only to read when my kids are in school (8-12 MWF) and listen to Goljan in between. While I was listening to his Step 2CK tapes he mentioned that the CK was meant for 4th year medical students who have no or limited clinical experience. As IMGs as most of us have years of experience, we don't have an excuse to fail the test coz we already know it (well thats what he said).
Feyza: Hi again! its nice to know that you're going a week before me so at least I could pick up my pace. Hehehe. At this point, to tell you frankly, Im in panic mode coz I have so little time left. Though I wish I could read all of KAPLAN, yesterday I tried reading FA instead and found out that there are some stuff that were in Kaplan that were not there, so I had to jot down the notes on my FA.
I promise not to procrastinate anymore and give this test my best. I will just read KAPLAN and do UW (its a good thing somebody actually typed the UW notes so it saved time for me). FA and my UW notes will be my companions during the last 2 weeks of preparation.
Yeah baby!

Thanks oldkid and Feyza. CS is very doable. Send me a PM if you still have doubts after reading my experience. I read just FA and UW. Many things that differ from OUR way of examining , most important are consent to examine, showing empathy and inappropriate touching. Will write more when your exams are near. Now back to CK books
No, I havent registered for CK yet. most probably I ve planned it for Dec.
Siglenn, Same problem here . My daughter is back from school by 12.30 P.M before I even open my books.

oo yeaa...hello  guys I have no chance of getting CS b4 CK now...cuz I bought my tickets for US for 9th of november and all 5 centers are totally full in nov and I cant afford another 2 way ticket soon sorry for takin your time with this
so I gotta stick to my previous plan...CK in some day in april-may-june EP ... hopefully in april...then CS in may or june
really wanna read all once till december...so really gotta stick to my 30p/day program ! then I can listen to Goljan in US then ...back in december...MCQs like crazy !!!!
Faraym ...CK prep in like less than 3 months ?? did you read b4 ?? are you very quick or am I very slow are the kids fine now?? and the fish

I BOOKED FOR STEP 2 CS FOR JULY 15 TUESDAY !
is this too late? am I being obsessive that I cant complete my CK prep ?
should I reschedule ? can I catch the 2008 matches??

Hey Feyza if you plan to take CS sooner than July then stay up late in the night and keep trying to get dates...(I meant CS dates not the one that grow on trees )
I did that too. Usually around 3 or 6 a.m US Eastern time people exchange dates ,so if u happen to be there refreshing your page ,you might steal one good date...he he he...
I have "planned" for CK in 3 months. I had 'planned' step 1 in 5 months and actually took it after 2 years!!! so lets see.
Kids are ok .the younger one still has runny nose and doesnt know how to blow it out ..so its a big problem ..I was trying to teach her and she got irritated and punched MY NOSE!!
If you are planning for 2008 , how far are you in your application process? Did you send the LORs already? and CAF?

and check for the CS score reporting dates on USMLE website ,it takes 3 months sometimes. Thts the main reason why people give CS before anything else.

I CANT get it sooner than July bc June means I gotta give CK in early may which I find dangerous all I worry now is...if july is late for 2009 ??
I guess I gotta read all that calender stuff... I wanna be starting residency in 2009 ... so I guess I meant 2009 uh? I thought I had to be done with LORS and steps by 2008 september ...not now
is there an unofficial link explaining all those calender work in a simple way ??

Ill get my DVDs when I come to US in november...so this first read in 40 days b4 I leave for US is without the DVDs... should I subscribe kpln Q bank for 1 months and add to this fast first read ?? or should I directly go with UW when I come back ??

See the reporting period.
Your test date is July 15th .that means you'll get your report only in Nov 2008. Most people apply in Sept 2008, some until Oct 2008. The sooner you apply the better they say.
Options,
1.Apply in Sept 2008 and update CS result later or
2.Schedule CS before July 5th. and you'll have your result in Sept 2008.

latest vacancy before july 5th is june 6
that means gotta finish CK in late april or early may for a good CS prep ... that makes 7 months ...actually 5 bc dont count Ramadan and november (I will be in US)...

so is it a disadvantage if I update CS later ??
maybe I gotta be barve and believe in myself to give CK in 5 months !
