Someone mentioned 500-600 is ideal. But if you have something really interesting to say in your PS then i guess 720 shouldn't be too bad either.

In courier new font & size 10, the PS should not exceed a page on taking a printout. (as i guess the programs look at our PS in that font & size, as per ERAS)

It's about 500-600 words, 2-3 paragraphs (past-present-future)

Don't go by what ERAS says, they allow 28,000 characters. Everybody who has been involved in this process from one perspective or another advises that the statement should be one page only. Before saving your statement in Plain Text, check the character count (with spaces) in Word and make it fit within 4,500 maximum. After it is saved in Plain Text, print it out to make sure you see what the program will see. If still not in one page, go back to Word and cut it more.

Nothing more than 2 pages. You don't want to loose your audience. Also - what is interesting to "you" (as the writer) may not be interesting to the reader. Err on the shorter side.

there is a note before you create a personlal statement. read it, it will explain what to do and how you have to create your PS. for starters use .txt format, NOT .doc (if you do cut and paste from MS Word); also turn on "word countinng" this way you can keep trak of it (again, in MS Word). 600-700 is good enough to fit on one page, so don't worry about that. if in doubt, do printout at the end. good luck

In the font & size i mentioned, you can fit a PS in one page easily with around 600-650 words . take the help of editing services. (a friend/essayedge/ editavenue) but, never copy PS from anywhere. these days they are very vigilant abt that . I wrote my PS --my own story and a dear friend of mine edited it for me. It was a great help! GL

yep, make at least 2 different people read and edit! Mine is 490 words, fits perfectly on one page, I am very grateful that one of my "editors" was a native English speaker who instatly detected one typo and a dozen missing commas!
