Greetings! Dr. Fisher,
I have a similar question... How do Program Directors evaluate applicants during interviews?
what parameters?, any scoring system?
Thank you

Pranam Gurudev,
I am feeling "deja_vu" . Guru Dronacharya is teaching lessons to all Pandavas and kauravas.

I am going for a couple match. Do Great credentials with one partener push the other's chances of getting matched? [ If partner1 has 10Units of credentials and partner2 has 4Units. Are they taken as 7 units/couple or 4 Units?(as the lower is 4)].
Is it possible that a program needs one applicant with extremely good credentials so badly that it is ready to accept his partner with 'not that great' credentials??

Dr Fischer its graet that you are here to help us all..
I am a graet fan of yours..
I have got 2 interview calls till now from university hopsitals..
I wanted to know do they still consider the step scores to evaluate and rank the candidate or once called for the interview they only look for the interview performance and personality? I am asking this question as I dont have great scores..and I want to know if I can still make it with great intevriew performance..?
Thank you for ur time in answering the queries?

nodGreetings Anxious Ones,
I am happy to join you all for a moment.
Here are my responses
1. The evaluation during interview. Most places do NOT have official scoring systems. By being chosen for a residency interview, you have ALREADY established your academic credentials, and the interview is for personality and communication. Smile, be friendly and have a few safe questions.

2. Couples: Uneven credentials CAN actually help. If they REALLY like one of you, they may take the spouse along to make you happy. Like a mother-in-law with a bad personality with a beautiful spouse.

3. Exterships are better than nothing.

4. Research is better than medical assistant. Lofty. More academic. Provided you can afford to eat.

5. Yes, more interviews after CS. Also it is still early, more interviews will come

6. For 'Physiofreak" . nice credentials. Please apply to Downstate. We will see you.
To all my friends at Prep4 USMLE.com, I am sorry I cannot come more often, however, I will not forget you.
