Hi bbb, i know u are very busy. but one quick question. do programs filter with usmle scores right away? or do they actually look at the whole package...lor's, research, publicatoins, etc? I have low scores with attempts, how do I get my applicatoin to stand out with all the other things that i have done then?

Every single program is going to have a different answer. I have a couple of filters that I am directed to start with. Then I go through the rest of the applications.

just wanted to ask , that do you atleast look at the applications at a later date or does it just go to the trash. in that caase people with low scores and other good things in applications would not even be considered

I don't look at incomplete applications for at least a couple of weeks.

bbb, then how does someone with lower scores or attempts get to show their whole application and all the great other things that they have done. is there ever a chance?

1- Pray that GOD will open the heart to a community program director for family medicine or Internal Medicine.

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

I look at experience - here and overseas, I look at the picture because I want eye-candy for three years, I look at hobbies (because that's what makes people interesting), I look for LORS from physicians that I know from my years of residency - because if they like you, you are probably a decent catch. I look for good looking men for the women in my program and good looking women for the men in my program.

I look for people from unique places so I can add to my collection of Hard Rock Cafe guitar pins.

I look for a sense of humor. I look. And I look.

Now, you get to look between the lines and see what a PC looks for. It's not just scores. If if was just scores, it would be easy.

Hi bbb,

I read that PC/PDs can see the candidate's picture only after he/she is invited for an interview, is that true?

Thanks for being there for all of us!!!

residency08, that rule has been changed from this year. Now the photo is being displayed on every application.
Goodluck
