I have 3 LoRs from the professors of my home country..Since I couldn't be present personally while they were writing them, I couldn't ensure that they made no mistakes..Now one of my LORs has been titled as Medical students Performance Evaluation.. Others are addressed to PD,ECFMG,Philadelphia..I think they were confused with the cover letters..Is it ok to send it as such?? One of my friends says that a colored scan can be taken with a piece of paper on the unwanted stuff..but wouldn't that be detrimental if they somehow find out? Please let me know ur opinions..

This is really really tricky and unprecedented. I would like to hear too from somebody if he/she knows of a solution. My best bet would be to call ECFMG and talk in details.

dear npas, If you don't feel comfortable in doing that , and are scared that the program might check from your teachers the best option would be to tell somebody in your country to get new Lor immediately and send them to you by fedex rightaway. Or if you feel it will delay that you can send them like this but you have to think that Each Program director will read as following: Dear Program Director Internal medicine ,Ecfmg Philadelphia. I am writing this letter in regard to npas to be considered for your residency program.... and they will think that why the letters are addressed to ecfmg ,philadelphia and will think we are not ecfmg philadelphia ????? and I think I would not compromise on my residency application. Again the decision is yours but try to send the best possible letters with least mistakes.because this is your career and is so important to you. Just a suggestion..... hope it helps

It doesn't really matter whether you address it to PD or other bodies....at the end of the day what matters most is the content of the letter....Do we have to specifically address it to PD..? You could say"To whom it may concern".....this is my suggestion Zianab Any comments???

Thank u Zianab and abinet for the concern..I can't scan it 'coz LORs has been enclosed in sealed envelope now..and If everything goes at the fastest pace I can expect my application to be ready by oct 15th..now how much more delay can I afford..but u r right that this would create a bad impression..let me wait for more response from forum members.. Abinet.."To whom so ever it may concern" is also fine.. All the best to all

well, i dont know how much of a difference it will make. Im sure of one thing and that is, here they look at the way a letter is written. So if the adress and stuff is not proper it may look a little awkward. if it'll make a difference in them choosing you, no idea. If there's time I would definitly want it to be replaced with a properly formatted one.
