I am an IMG , took exam on 17 Aug, score got reported on 5 Sep( even less than 3 weeks) I failed by 1 point. I was totally shocked coz my exam went Ok. I have 88/213 in step1. On the day of my exam, the test center was experiencing some errors and my exam started over an hour late. Cud there be a technical error bcoz of that? also my friend who gave exam on 7th August at same center hasnt got hiis score reported? Shud i apply for a score recheck?

Sorry to hear about this. I guess every time when people have technical problems during the exam, they should get kind of compensation... For the money they take from us, we should have free coffee and cake during the exam but not this old computers in badly air conditioned basements... In addition, the timing of your score is surprising... I would apply for recheck, definitely...

Sorry to hear this. Don't know anything about recheck, I guess you can definitely do that. But at the same time, set up your mind to study for CK again. Who knows whether this will be a good chance for you to get a very high score next time you shoot for this? Be strong and GL.

You wouldn't like to pass with a bad score, anyway. Take your chance, make a HUGE comeback. Good luck!

Well I would like to thank everybody here for your words of encouragement. Has anybody ever heard that a score was improved after a recheck?

gstar44 since you got a pass on step1 I would suport what other guys are saying, take it again but not too soon until you got your emotions under control and high spirit back. so work on the motivation, get in the top gear again, polish up yours arears of weakness if you know them, then go for it. dont give up mate

I didnt give any NBME.......the biggest mistake perhaps. Strangely I had feelings that I might fail after I gave my Step 1. But after CK , i never ever thought about that. In fact I was feeling good, and i thought i had done much better than step1.I am yet to come across anybody whose score got reported on 5th Sep. Am I the only one ?

Dear (gstar44): I am sad to hear that. I advice you to go to recheck. You will lose nothing. Since failing is failing, whether it was 74 or any thing less than that. So go to recheck, and don't be afraid about the fact that previously no changes in marks happened. I have a very low score of step 2 (79) compared to 1. But I am scared to do recheck since I wouldn't my score to get less than that. I hope you a good luck, and if you did a recheck tell us. Good luck.
