congrats to those getting ivs!

i've had my 3rd straight week of silence...i'm thankful i haven't gotten the rejections although i was hoping to hear something...just gotta keep playing the waiting game!

anyway, had my ivs at bu and drexel...advice to those going on ivs: just relax and be yourself...it's just as much them trying to impress you as you are trying to impress them...

good luck all!

hello guys, im new to the thread.
Im an IMG, old grad with 1 year patho residency- home town
ASCP and AMT certified, no USCE, needs visa.
I applied late and have mediocre scores that's why I only have 1 interview and all rejections/no reply
I just received a invite from Conemaugh and i don't want to mess up my only interview.
Can you guys help me? This is my one and only chance.
When is the best time to schedule and interview? early or late?
What are the usual questions during interviews? Are there patho questions?
What am i going to wear? LOL
And other tips....
thanks guys

ads1: Maybe I can't count, but I thought you applied to 7 programs. I only counted 6 programs that you got responses from. What is the 7th?

  #155

Hi, guys, for those of u who have been to several interviews, do u ask for prematch? If so, how do u do it? Do u ask right at interview (in PD's office) or afterwards in the email? Thanks for any input.

got tons of rejections last week...but i'll update our list later.

for now, just wanna say that i'm back from my observership at northwestern in chicago. chicago is an awesome city and i hope i hear from their other programs!

how's the match going for everyone?

i'm still hoping to receive more invitations. i have my 4, 3 of which i've already gone to. these 3 are great programs and i would receive solid training in any of them. i hope that they liked me just as much as i liked them!

well, start posting everyone! don't let our thread die!

  #164

ads1: I'm interested to know your take on the competition this year in pathology. I have been on 9 interviews so far and the AMG's are a bit nervous about matching into a decent path program (many interviewing at a minimum of 15 programs). Do you feel confident that you will match into one of the competitive programs that you have interviewed at? Curious to hear your opinion on this.

  #165

C. Cutestory: you have great credentials and invs. Have you got any pre-match offers? If you are worried about being unmatched, you can always settle with a prematch position., unless your top choices do not offer prematch positions.

  #166

Lucky_Tiger: I have received 1 pre-match offer, however, it was not a decent program. Regardless of credentials, there are many AMG's with stellar scores. It is very stressful to say the least. I'm only attending 10 interviews as well, they get really old after a while. How are things with you?

  #167

C. Cutestory: I do not have any prematch offers. Have to do the match. I did not sense the competition you talked about, maybe because the programs I interviewed at are not that competitive. You have to make a decision...., it is tough. Good luck.

LT

  #168

Lucky_Tiger: Where have you interviewed? Do all interviews seem similar to you?

  #169

hey everyone! congrats to those getting all the interviews...it is kind of scary with the number of applicants to pathology this year...but keep in mind, it's usually the same people who are getting all of the invites from the top places...and since everyone can only go to one place, there should be a spot for all of us!

i only have 4 interviews (so far...still keeping hope that a few invites will trickle in). been to 3 and found that the interviews are pretty standard as c. cutestory said. i did have a few interviews that were far from conventional and it really threw me off, however it was enjoyable that they changed it up form the common "what questions do you have?"

you guys are probably thinking i should be peeing my pants with so few interviews, but to tell you honestly, i felt really good about my 3 interviews. i got a sense that they were just as interested in me as i was in their program. and i would be very happy to match to any of them.

how is eveyrone else doing? any thoughts on the match so far?

  #170

C. Cutestory: I went to Baystate and all the interviewees on that day were IMGs. I guess if you went to university based programs (you have many of them), you would see more AMGs.

LT

  #171

whatsup people? no updates?

  #172

hey guys!

our thread has been real quiet. i haven't been writing simply because i had nothing to say...i think that the season is pretty much over, in terms of invites...i know interviews are winding down.

as for me, an average fmg, i completed my 4 interviews. scary i know! but all 4 were university programs where residents get fellowships at big name places. i'm grateful that i actually liked all the programs and would be happy to match. i have my number one in terms of where i want to go. others are still switching places on my list. i'll probably certify soon though. no point in waiting once everything is clear.

how IS everyone? let's bring our thread back to life!

  #173

WHERE IS EVERYONE???

how's everyone doing with their rank lists? anyone certify yet? i've saved it...but still struggling, yes even with just 4 to rank!

if you guys don't wanna talk about ROLs, here's another try at keeping our thread alive: what kind of correspondence have you guys had with programs?

post-interview, i sent thank you emails...some programs replied...most didn't even acknowledge receipt of my thank you's.

christmas, i sent cards...same kind of thing...not even a message saying they got it.

emails this past week to residents in some programs went well...with some replying to say that they liked me and they're glad i'm interested in their program.

so, bottomline? either no one really wants me or everyone is too busy! i'm hoping it's the latter. otherwise, i'm screwed!

anyone else care to share their experiences?

  #174

why has everyone disappeared???

anyway, for those who still visit here, happy hearts day! grin

  #175

hey ustmd2006!!

i regularly peep into ur thread. i m going for the 2009 match. and i m very much interested in patho. can u tell me if u did any observership in patho?

are there any other ways of strengthening ur application for patho?

please do reply!
