Hi guys i was just talking with my friend who is first year resident at UT memphis and he was telling me it is getting tough there. Last year most of the double 99 GC (citizens) got matched there. There are residents with scores in 270s. So he was saying they gonna be real choosy now.

yes, it is ut, memphis.

everybody wants the perfect 99/99 scorer. can't they look at the applicant weighing the entire credentials.

anyways...................

sarika..i added my creds in that thread.

  #8

UT Memphis explicited said it wants scores of 85+ on both steps, so why did you apply?

Dr.Pak look at this

http://www.prep4usmle.com/forum/thread/58892

That's what was my confusion and as per the suggestions from friends and bcoz of little personal hope, I had to still include some programs who ask for 85 on stp1 in my list.

so, that's why i applied.

just do it, your credentials are very good, you will get way more interviews. But i certainly know how you feel. I cant even sleep in rest, all night i dream about checking eras message, yahoo email. Although i havent recieved any rejection messages yet but in my dreams all i see is Rejections...This is the MATCH SYNDROME!

  #11

thanks sarika for your good words.

Congrats on your first interview call & Gl.

I am also a victim of that so called Match Syndrome. At frequent intervals, i keep checking this forum/eras.

@just do it: I did read the thread you referred me to and I can understand your delimma. Obviously to came a great way from your 80 to get your 99 in step 2. Kudos to you for doing that. I can understand how that might cause your confusion. I think since your Step 2 is so high, you'll get a lot of interest from other programs. Best wishes to you.

@sarika and just do it: I've determinedly decided not to get caught up in the match syndrome. I submitted my application yesterday and now I'm just letting go. There is no more I can do at this point. All my cards are on the table, all the exams passed, letters and documents submitted. I think we should now just focus on staying positive. Just don't fret and keep yourself busy. I have a 9-5 research job which I am immensely grateful for because it stops me from worrying about things.

Thanks Dr.Pak

Yes, that's true. So, "stay calm & positive", atleast as much as possible should be our current strategy.

University of Tennessee (Program with ID 1404721412) accepts 85+ on both step 1 and 2 with first attempts. Their cut off is 5 years from graduation.
