I'm wondering many programs need USCE in psychiatry! How come? They do not offer observership or externship but still want this USCE?! How are we supposed to get it as IMGs?

Yes this is a 2 edged sword. As in we don’t care where & how u get psych USCE but we need it.

Needless to say, chking my mail a million times
any suggestions welcome.. coz i hv a feeling 57 is too less, but cudnt find more progs due to my lack of USCE

I was getting a little despondent today since I have no i/v s and I have only applied to less than 30 programs because of location constraints.
Thank God when I received an email and an i.v invite on my birthday at 230 pm!!!
Its in Elmhurst, NYC, affiliated with Mt Sinai.

Cupidpluto: I dont have very good credentials. 77/88 ecfmg certified/1st attempts/need H1 visa/doing research now/ 1US LOR/1.5 yrs internal med/psych residency from home country.
Did u apply there as well? I think I know why I got the i/v there. They have a 30% Asian coummunity over there. Where are you from? You should be getting an i/v from there soon as well.
Pushpal: Thanks! How do you know its a gd program? Its not the Mt Sinai in Manhatten. Its Mt Sinai (Elmhurst). Don't worry about the interview calls for now. Let's just sit tight and be patient.

Crystal,
mt sinai of elmhurst is a very good campus
and better than the manhattan prog both education wise and from the angle of a quality of life at elmhurst.
very close to the elmhurst subway station( no need to worry about a car)
its my dream to get matched there, unfortunately i have not heard from them as yet
I know this because a very good friend of mine, got admitted to the manhattan prog, but eventually shifted to the elmhurst program , and is a happy soul today

Guys,
I signed a pre-match with an East Coast Univ Prog.
very happy about not having to go to the match or to the crap-shoot scramble.
I was at 19 interviews and 6 rejections when I accepted.
psych experience/USCE is the key. do your best to get this.

12 days. They are quick with their decision.
They downloaded mine on the 13 and 17, but my application is still incomplete.
I'm missing all my LOR's.
So if my LOR's haven't been scanned by the 25 - 29, I'll probably get rejected too.
