That happens Puchpal, dont be upset and dont gıve up, I'm sure LIJ will offer more IVs to IMGs but the fact still remains: LIJ is NOT IMG-friendly so we all stand a low chance to get matched there... For the same reason you have, I was excepting a call from Clev Clinic but never got one. I dunno how PDs make their decision but obviously they have very eccentric ways for evey each one of them.

upset? i shouldnt be as i perfectly agree wid you , as nslij being one of the most competitive psych progs of usa, taking into consideration the research opportunities. and i always know i dont satnd a chance there.but even for an ornamental reason they could have given me a call , i know it should have been just a feeel good factor but the "feel good" is what differentiates humans from... anyways, i consider this forum as a bunch of pals thats why i just vented out, now i need to rush , will see you guys , in the evening best "P"

Hi guys..first all congrats to all those who got ivs and my best wishes with those who r still waiting..since u guys r totally into psych match, wanted to ask u ppl something..I am an IMG, applied for IM and FM but havent yet received any iv.. recently some1 told me that psych is comparatively an easy specialty to get into.n ppl who dont get other specialties, generally match there..m not sure at all how true is this as i never researched abt this specialty.. psych is defenitely not at the top of my priority list but i do like psych and i would rather prefer psychiatry than not getting anything..so can u guys give me some advice and do i stand any chance of ivs if i apply now? my creds r 95/87/pass CS all 1st attempt/ 2006 grad/no USCE, need J1...

Hi Javed If you read "Iserson's getting into residency" you will get a realistic opinion regarding the difficulty level of different especialties for getting into. They got stars from one to five meaning one is the easiest especialty and five for the most difficult one. FM, neurology...got one star meaning the easiest ones and psychiatry and IM got two stars with the explaation that psychiatry has far less available positions and more applications. So now you can conclude and decide. Take care,

Javed, U have relatively good scores and a recent grad. That is in your favor. My advice: be very careful in going into something that you are not really interested in. I know getting a residency is what we all ultimately want, but the field you choose will be for the rest of your life. Make your decision wisely.

Hell yeah!! I got a nice big army boot kick right on my butt MGH/McLean, as expected, showed me the door ... but the south shore I still have hopes to get an IV, just to meet the fellow Harvard faculties because its HOT, you know, when you go back to your own country and tell your friends that you met with the Harvard faculty What'd be cooler than that?!
