Hi puchpal
i interviewed in Drexel 2 years ago, very energetic PD, he likes psychotherapy as a result of his training, so be prepared to show some enthusiasm for it, don't worry he will not quiz you, but he and the other faculty will explore your intellectual side 
they offered me a prematch at the day of the interview but i didn't take it, by looking at Freida numbers it seems that they fill half of their positions outside the match, overall it is very nice program, you will like it

i didn't take it because i had interviews at Emory, Uni of Maryland and Baylor so i thought i shouldn't withdraw from the match, but in the end i failed the CS, the results were out in February, so i couldn't retake the test in time for the match

what i meant by intellectual side is that some programs will not ask you direct medical questions but they will try to explore the candidate ability to talk about something not mentioned in the medical text books. don't panic nothing fancy, reading your posts you seem quite interesting person, so just be yourself and don't panic if the conversation drift to discuss a movie director you like or what you think about the American culture

it was bad to know about this. cs failing thing.
believe me if a person wants a general discussion from
geopolitics to alterntaive energy resources, to books to movies.......as long as it does not involve medicine and its intricacies, i m fine 
may god help me , im really getting nervous despite the calls i have
coz for me its a matter of survival , unlike many people for whom its
a matter of choosing the program

Hello everybody
I have been reading this forum durin the last week and have been very useful for me.
I'm an IMG from Colombia applying to psychiatry.
My credentials:
step 1 92
step 2 84 
CS Failed one time
ECFMG certified.
6 months of USCE
3 LOR from US
1 LOR from my country
2 case reports on press
A pesimistic attitude
At this moment I've received 5 iv invitation (U.Miami; U.Illinois; Beth Israel in NYC; Albert Einstein in Philadelphia and Cleveland Clinic)
5 Rejections (U. Colorado; U. Arizona; Emory (that hurts!!; U.Washingtown St louis and U.Wisconsin)
"In hold"= Rejected in a lot of places.
I want to know is anybody who got interviews from the same places has any advice to me. Mi interviews will start on December and I'm scared.

Cupid.. I heard its a good program with a good geropsych fellowship program but the location is not the most favorable. Its a good location for nature enthusiast and hikers as well as small-towners.

Albert Einstein, Phil wants to review my Application later, Washington University PD didnt like me, same with North Dakota-not calling for IV
Uni of Virginia says review my application again in mid -Nov to late December

One question:
Is it true that some programs send invitations only after the MSPEs are released from the ERAS?
Should I wait to schedule my trip to the US waiting for those potential invitations?
Is it a better idea book my flights right now?

Yeah, write me down the list also! I am also a step3 candidate but really not motivated to take another USMLE in the next decade! Why do we need to take it by the end of December Puchpal?? What kinda advantage do we get if we take if by end of December?? or can we take it so that we'll get the results by the time we match, that is March 20th so that we can sign an h1???

yeah same here, i ve got my permit already, but motivation=0 , i think it can be done as late as February, the important thing is to have the results ready once you match somewhere

this motivation factor has to be taken care of ...
can u imagine i thought i will start studying today..
got up in the morning,,,,took the book in hand
then i though some cheese sandwich is required
after two big sandwiches, some sleep was necessary.....
got up , it was lunch time already
had lunch , to my shame again slept,,,,,,,,,have just got up
this is a horribly hopeless situation....
alll psych residents have advised me to study. and yes newyg
if we take it by jan mid
we may be able to sign up the H1 !!!
so guys lets pull our socks and stockings
and do it once and for all
i want to start the "step 3 anonymous"

Hey Puchpal,
The only thing i am GURU at is being Lazy...you wouldnt believe but i have asked everyone i know including you how IV goes, collected every information even adviced others how to prepare and yet my IV preparation is hopeless. After collecting all teh info...i set it aside and waiting for God knows what!....My answers to strengths and weaknesses are ublub...bublubb..ummmm nummmm....
Long ago i collected all the material for step 3.....and its sitting there....So yes i am undisputed Guru of laziness!
