First of all i calculate the normal TBW of patient, which represents 60% of the weight:
75x 60/100= 45L
I calculate the Na concentration that corresponds to 45L:
45Lx 139m Eq/L= 6255mEq
She still has the same total Na concentration,But the serum Na concentration increases due to loss of fluid.
I then calculate the remaining fluid By dividing:
6255mEq/160mEq/L= 39L
This patient TBW decreased to 39 L. So she lost:
45L - 39L= 6L
That s how i did it
