Hello every one.

Recently, I got ECFMG certificate and applied to many hospitals last monday.

I am planing to take step3 in the september but I do not have much time for the test. So my expected score of step3 is not that high.

My question is would it still be helpful if I pass step3 with low score even though I dont have any visa problem?
Or would you recommad me to prepare for the better interview?

Thank you.

hmm, don't get me wrong but why bother taking step 3 now without any visa issues? I assume you have already paid for the exam so it will be wasted money if you don't take it now...As far as I know step 3 score is not so important, but any other opinions welcome!

I think that step3 score will be important in applying for fellowship later on. and a bad score in interview is worse than no score at all if there are no visa issues. but yeah money is money. But personally i wouldnt have appeared in step3 if i were you.

Don't you guys think it's better to seat for step 3 now, that step 2 CK studying is recent, everything fresh in the brain, than during residency, working 80 hours a week?

Devote 101% energy into preparing for your interviews.

Some programs esp in CA they prefer applicants with passed step 3.

@kingsofke: I would disagree that step 3 has any major significance in finding a fellowship. It is about connections and how well you perform in your residency, LORs...

@arlete: you might be right that taking step 3 now is better,I agree that time will be an issue later in residency BUT don't forget that step 3 is not completely like step 2ck...It is even more clinical and for people without experience(internship, residency in home country etc.) it might be a real challenge.

@eunhogim: don't get discouraged by what I wrote! Just study hard for couple of more weeks and do your best! After that you'll still have enough time to prepare for interviews! Best of luck!!!
