i flunked step 1 ...what are my chances of getting residency in US int medicine..it all depends on what u say as i am a silent member of this forum and i have read yr posts and i truly believe you...what do u think i shud do ....i am doing research at UCSF ..wht are my chances of being matched next year ...if any in california....plz plz plz do reply..waiting anxiously for yr reply....i dont wanna leave my profession but with a 68/170 i guess i shud

Step 1 flunked-----thats definitely a Negative thing on your application. but your destiny depends on how well you compensate it with other positive things... like good scores on next attempt, passing 2ck, cs and 3 in first attempt and with decent scores, good US lors, U already have research...add some externships and observerships to it..... u do all these things...u can virtually erase ur step 1 failure from your profile

Agree with dr.georgie, plus: (and most important) try to get your name on a paper (s) from your research experience at UCSF (big plus). If starting now and doing research at the same time, probably one year is not enough for that goal (maybe 1.5 - 2). I mean : good steps 1-2-(3), plus cs, plus publication, plus obs/ext. better plan, better chances.
