Very interesting information. An IM program in NY, st barnabas have started sending invites. What interesting to note is all the invitees are in upper 90's, fresher grads, with some USCE AND VERY IMPORTANTLY ARE NOT US CITIZENS OR GC HOLDERS. So it means they are inviting the CREAM, will entice them with PREMATCHES early. Since GC and citizens dont have that visa prob, they did not even invite them even if the credentials were similar . Very clever!

hey babydoc, what i think their logic is and its just an analysis, they know people with GC or Citizenship might not be that desperate and wont consider their prematch that seriously. What they might be doing is interviewing the best of candidates who need visa, offer prematch early in the game. By doing that they will increase their`programs brad passing rate.

there are many IM programs in bronx and brooklyn - they are names of the places , not programs. plz say names of those 5 programs. But, actually I heard that st.barnabas is not as bad as some others in NY. But, 'visa" is the real issue for IMG's. they know that.

the modus operandi of these programs is very bad..they invite 100-150 IMGS for 10-15 programs...offereing prematch for 100% positions..if u have high scores and u accept it you get stuck..but if u need to get in a program and have a good score and need visa apply here..

The reason for not sending interviews to everybody is that they need people who have experience in the field and no gaps. Also I have heard they like young people too .They donot prefer old graduates .I don't think visa is issue here.I have heard that send interview to most people and still are unmatched because they dont rank the,.Last year they interviewed 400 people for 30 positions. So you can guess chances.I heard that the surgery program looked like a train station during interviews. Here is the stats from Freida . General information Comments: Located in the "Little Italy" neighborhood, near Fordham University and the Bronx Zoo. A major teaching affiliate of the Weill-Cornell Medical College. Total program size Yr1 Yr2 Yr3 Total Positions 30 30 30 90 Primary teaching site St Barnabas Hospital <!--New change - added primary teaching site --> Primary teaching site uses electronic medical records Yes Program best described as Community hospital, university affiliated Requires previous GME No Offers preliminary positions No <!-- New change - added the year 2007. They abuse residents. Unless u r desperate with poor credentials, it is not recommended. Do u apply for the ER residency there? I heard u post some very funny stuff on ER board.
