last year there were around 380 prelim surgery spots in the post match ... not many places let you continue as PGY-2 but then u can always apply for the following year's match with the best USCE anyone can get ... altho i do think that it wont be much of a benefit if u apply to IM after prelim surgery .. i agree with honeysuckle about getting an honorable dismissal .. remember that when you apply for the match most places require an LOR from your previous PD if u've been working .. it might be hard to do that if they're not happy at u leaving after one year of categorical .. but then i've known people who've done that ..

I wasnt saying u had crappy scores ! it was just a general statement that AMGs get preference over IMGs ...

just wonder how many neuro programs do not even send rejection letters. I applied 70 programs but so far I haven't heard anything from most of them yet.

  #106

I mean those programs even don't bother to reject you.. Should we contact those programs?

  #107

Yeah, so far I got two rejection, Vandy and Maryland
8 IVs
I don't have time to call, maybe you want to give a try?wink

  #108

I have got two rejections so far..., Indiana and Brwon.. but no news from the rest of programs. I know sometimes they send a mass email to those who are not qualified for the interview and most of the time it happens at the end of interview cycle. Good luck acne, you did pretty good smiling face

This is what I tell myself---it looks like neuro really favors the amgs because if you guys take a look at sdn, a lot of programs are giving out invites already, and since there are so few programs, imgs really cant expect anything until the wave of the amg applicants die out. That is, when they start cancelling, then we start getting the interviews...that's what im praying for...

  #110

AMGs are getting interviews all over the place !! I talked to a PD and she said that they're still reviewing apps and wont be sending invites anytime soon ... turns out that some AMGs on other forums have already scheduled their ivs with them ... seriously thinking about applying to more FM programs

I hope IMGs will get more ivs later. It is true that AMGs have got a lot of ivs already. One of the reason some programs haven't responded yet because we are the backups.

This morning i got iv from university of vermont.

  #112

Yes, IMG IVs will run after AMG
But most of the neuro programs are university programs, which they heavily look on research experience. If you guys don't have research experience, e.g. some US publications, you will not be a strong candidate for the programs.shaking head

wow acne that's a pretty heavy dose of reality bites there...and what an emoticon!

Hey Acne do you mind sharing your 8 ivs in neurology

  #122

Hei! Keppra

I really want to share, but since I used the same ID in another forum and many people know me, I'd better keep it secret. They are all university-based/affiliated programs. Some have FMGs almost every year, some never have FMGs. For the later programs, I have no idea why they want me to go there for IVs. I applied wildly.rolling eyes

  #123

acne...why the secrecy? i dont get it. i thought you started this thread...oh well, if you have your reasons, you have your reasons...U Cincinnatti just gave out interviews. Man, that was oe of the spots I dreamt of...

  #124
