Now, the interview season is almost over. Then let us change the opinion about how we can know how highly the program will rank us. This is the most important thing now because the next is the ranking season. I know most programs will have an important meeting late January to discuss about the candidates before the final rankings. Do you think we will receive some e-mails from them if the programs think we are competitive candidates?

Highhope, Most of the replies I got are from PDs or assocaite PD, almost always. (when I got replies from the programs) ckevin, I agree, any positive hint from the program before the ROL deadline will be very significant, and more meaninful than the reply from thank you email. I am not sure all programs will do that, from what I heard, few programs call or email you. Even if you do not get any response, it does not mean you will not be ranked or matched. So very stressful!

Hello all, In my case, it was mostly the Non-PD faculty that replied back. In some cases, the chairman replied back. I can only recall one reply from a PD. Next, most of the emails were very generic 2-3 sentences. But lately ( last week) i did receive MAIL (By USPS Post) from a couple of places that i interviewed in oct and Nov ( 2-3 sentences thanking me and mentioning that i will make a good addition to their program). These programs did reply back immediately to me generic thank you emails then and have again sent out these letters. I am not sure if they did send out these letters to all their candidates after the IV season is over. Just wanted to ask if anyone else received similar correspondence. But i am thinking of not reading too much into these letters and to stick with my own experiences during the IV and all the strengths and merits of each program while i prepare my ROL. Next, regarding the "Late IV Calls"- I am trying to accommodate and attend these IV's with the same enthusiasm ( Even though i am aware that i may be their "Fill-in" candidate) and give my best shot. During scenarios when two program IV dates clash, i am being biased to the ones that invited me earlier during oct, Nov. I have not yet reached the next stage of preparing my ROL, i still have IV's coming up and at times i am being late in sending out the thank you letters. Anyway i think discussion and dialogue here in this forum should be very helpful. Good luck all.

sunmatch, you rock! I did not get any post mail from any programs. You will have no problem match. Are these 4 yr or advanced programs who sent you post mails?

Thanks for Sunmatch's information. I suggest we share any useful information from the programs, which may be very useful for rankings. It won't hurt you anything because the program names are confidential, but it will help others. Good luck to everyone here.

usually before the deadline for ranking (Feb 27), but I think you should contact the programs for more acurate information. It does not hurt to ask. Each program may have different rules...

Do you guys think we should contact the programs again before the ranking day if we are really interested in them? Is it a good idea or not, or even a violation? It is also possible that some programs don't like that. Any comments?

Unbelievably, I still get an interview invitation today. Because this neurology program is a good one and never refused me, I am planning to take it although at this stage one more interview is not so important. But I found this program's last interview date is mid-Febrauary, very close to the final ranking date. Just want to share this information with you guys.

Well I have finished with my interviews unless my miracle meter is working over time I dont think I am a getting any other calls. I have three IVs total out of 45 Neuro Applied. No IMs from 50 IM. So My rank list gonna be pretty small....unless I can add some fictitious programs in there just to make myself feel better. I am gonna put in Harvard, Yale, UCLA, U Mich etc etc all before my lowly community hospitals where I do expect to get in...lol.....dot hurt puttin them in and them I am gonna print it out and frame it up......and then tell my kids see where I interviewed at!....and turned them down for ________ Hospital.....
