i got a prelim on j1 ...i want to apply to neuro next year and at the same time i want to apply for internal med categorical.. can i repeat first year again on j1...pls reply guys...

nice to hear from you again. from what i gathered you can repeat first year on J1 if you change your specialty or from special permission from ECFMG. usually consider for those who need to repeat the year because of deficient training as per request of Program Director. But i think you will get a PGY2 in neuro or in medicine especially if your program director helps you. There is a program directors forum on which PGY2 openings are discussed earlier than their official announcement and a fellow PD recommendation is given due weightage.

hi kingske thanks for the response...can u pls direct me to the pds column in th forum for pgy2 spots....i want to apply categorical programs in internal med as a back up..so can i do that..also can i apply to cat neuro and advanced....i,m not talking about the open neuro spots....please can u clarify me...i,m not understanding....
