got a rejection email from Kansas ... i knew i had a rejection cuz i'd called last week .. why she had to remind me by sending the email is beyond me!

They like to be thorough in their expression of disdain for us mere manure on the roadside..... ....wish they would be so thorough in their revision of board policies....like for example restricting candidates to one particular field of application...right now everybody applies for EVERYTHING as a result IVs get filled up by people not even wanting to go into that field....thats why the number of unmatched seats in all faculties except Family medicine went up by a whopping 23% last year.
I think the "Single" line match rule would free up a lot of positions and less burden the candidates as well as the programs.....financially and resources wise....my 2 cents specially since I haven't had my thiamine drip lately.

as to you question ... well, i'm really not sure how one would do that! you could say that u wanted to get a feel for how medicine is practiced in the US and were looking for a chance to work somewhere and got it at the place u did the neuro obs at .. i have a FM interview but i've done some research in PD .. if they ask me i'll make something up like i wanna go into geriatrics after FM and PD is predominantly a disease of older members of society BLAH BLAH BLAH .. hope it helps

I agree with Doc....You can say your oppurtunity to work at Neuro was the only chance you had to experience the US health system first hand. And try to link up any research you have there with my Medicine thing and then may try to back with stuff from your med school (Research, Letter, Voluntary work, etc).....Good luck.
Congrats on that IV at Toledo....How did u find out?....Did u call them or did they email u.....But hey be proud...You were one among the lucky few to be selected for IV from the 420 applicants that have applied ..That is really Positive...Good luck

I got an email like this. What should i do now? any one have any idea? Thanks,
Thank you for your application and interest in the residency program in
Neurology at the University of Florida. Although your application has merit,
we are able to interview fewer than 10% of applicants, and you were not
granted an early interview. We will review all applications again in November,
when we have a better idea of the applicant pool, and if we decide to grant
you an interview then, I will contact you by mail or e-mail. If you do not
hear from me by December 1st, you may assume that an interview is not granted,
and that we will be unable to consider your candidacy further.

Well...I have not heard anything from Peoria except for the ""recieved/reviewing email" they sent out last week.....My list of "HANGING ME IN SUSPENSE"(Did not send me either an IV or rejection when others have heard from them) now stands at almost 10 now...Still wondering whether i should call them or still wait...Anyway will decide next week after the magic date NOV 1 passes....Good luck everyone...Hope we all end this week in good note

Doc, Match if more than one person has received this same mail.....and that includes me.....that means its a rejection but a cruelly optimism inducing rejection....I mean they want to drop us like we are hot but still give us the nagging hope that Dec1st might bring some great news......arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

anybody with same email from med college wisc? is this generic one inducing false hope( i like them a bit as it keeps my mind busy).
We have reviewed your application to the Neurology Residency Program at the
Medical College of Wisconsin. We have noted your application to be
exceptional, but at this time your application is on hold. To date, we have
received in excess of 450 applications. It is very hard to pick only 50
candidates out of that number when so many were very impressive. We currently
have all our spots for interview filled but if someone should cancel, you will
be one of the first to be called. We wish you luck in the match and all

this is the one i got last month ... its different than yours .. mine is an outright rejection whereas the one u got says ur on hold ... hopefully u'll find some luck with them

Well my only Wisconsin communication that i recieved on Sep 21 is :
We have received your application and wish to thank you for your interest in
our program. We know you will find our program exciting, innovative, and
friendly. We will be reviewing applications and contacting you regarding our
decision to invite you to Madison for an interview. Invitations will be sent
out after October 1st. We received over 200 applications last year and
interviewed 50 applicants.
Well where do u think my application is now???...I guess it is almost making or had made it to thier rejection list and i guess they did not care to inform me of any news after Oct 1 ....where u guys have recieved some communication

I got that same email sometime mid september i think ... i called UW Madison last week and they said that they're still reviewing and will be emailing applicants in a few weeks time ...
