Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in the University of Minnesota Neurology Residency Program. We have reviewed your application.
I am sorry that we will not be able to offer you a position in July, 2008. We had many excellent applicants this year and the process is highly competitive.
I wish you the best of luck in your application process.
Sincerely,
Frederick Langendorf, MD
Associate Professor of Neurology
Program Director, Neurology Residency

shocked disapproval mad confused so i guess i am really naive...but how come everybody talks about it? and i know one friend of mine got a good post in med-peds in the scramble. I hope I make it in Peoria. They only have 2 slots though i think---yaaaaa! Doc, if you get called, i would love to have you as co-resident! Have you heard good things about this?

you know i think next year, those applying will be better off because hopefully many will read this thread and realize...uh-uh....

  #453

Your friend either interviewed there and wasnt ranked in the main match.....or else he knew someone there.....or else he should be buying the lottery regularly because he is one lucky SOB (no offense)......

I was SOooooooo excited baout taking part in the match and then the dark force hit me like a ton of shit......bottomline is we IMGs are always an afterthought in this whole system.....never the first choice.....always the sloppy seconds......and if you are an unlucky IMG then you prolly will have to wait to be dirty thirds or yesterdays leftover to get into the system....rolling eyes

Guys looks all tom dick and harry on the face of earth has applied to Neurology thats why all of us here on forum, Honey, doc, sunmatch, tufts etc, are short of calls, luckily i have got few calls in IM so now I am not gonna go any chance go by even a shit prog will be best for me, its getting jam packed in US guys beware

  #455

Looks like this is because neurology came out of SFmatch this year.Otherwise I had an idea it was not considered that competitive . I mean you look at the resident lists of even good programs and you are almost certain to find a couple of imgs there , looks like it aren't gonna be the case anymore,

Hi, everyone,

It is very enjoyable to read everyone's poster although the mood of poster is pretty frustrating. The good thing is we are pretty suportive to each other. This is a good forum. I think in the way we do not have to compare with AMG. From last year data, about 50% of IMG from total applicants was matched unless there is a huge increase in number of IMG applicants this year. Everyone only needs one position. We got to try it.

No Highhopes.....Well this rejection was a "FULL SERVICE REJECTION"!!!...They take all the honorssmiling face

  #471

rejection from Henry ford ... had an insider ask them and they told him that they won't be sending me an invite

one of my friends is a PGY1 in IM in NY .. his program got 3000 applications for around 20-24 spots that they have and he was saying that out of the 3000, around 200 were 99/99 !! so for every spot they have they've got atleast 10 99/99ers waiting in line !! and a large number of applicants have also done their MRCP from UK .. also theres lots of applicants who have "only" one 99 but their other score is still mid-high 90s ... God dang !! there is more to life than books and 99s ! all i'm thinking of at the moment is the soccer game that i've got tomorrow night nodnodgrincool

for those of u who follow soccer .. did anyone watch the arsenal game last night ??? 7-0 !!

Good luck everyone wink

So u Gunner Doc???

  #473

like their style of play, like wenger's whole 'let-the-youth-shine' idea .. i'm more of an italian soccer fan ... been supporting Juventus ever since they got Baggio to play for them in '93 .. altho he left in '95, i stayed a juve fan .. i supported baggio thru out his career .. i still support del piero and maldini and if they end up playing against each other then i dont care who wins as long as theres a good game smiling face
