Doc you left me too...... ...man I feel happy for you but saddened at the loss of another waiter in the wings club.....I am sure you will get the ranking in the place since Cleveland will not usually call you unless they are interested. You got to blow them off their feet man......strike for all IMGs.....(wait I think I need that thiamine drip again).....seriously though congrats and farewell from the loser's gallery.....

Sarika at least you have some IM IVs and Mr. Bloom for company....(:nod ...for me even the silver lining seems to be mockingly receding into the depths of the residency black hole....If I dont hear anything by November 1st week.....I have a better chance at getting a republican nomination than getting into a program.... I rarely despair.....just that this might be one of those rare times....well who knows one of these days that magic mail might show up in my mail box. The good part (if thats what you can call it) is that all the places that I am REALLY expecting responses from haven't yet sent rejects.....so Hope floats once more bravely ahead......

Honeysuckle, I did not reply to that email. I have IVs in NOv-dec and then even if i get schedule it in FEB...It will be too expensive to live in a strange city, alone away from kid and husband. Sometimes i wonder things are much more easier for single Male doctors.

Rejection from Nebraska : ( I guess it's too late to apply now, or Im really not competitive. I'm so down. Guys, how did you get into research? I think I'm throwing in the towel for this year...I mean of course Im not gonna withdraw, but I just want to know what I can do when I don't get a place next year...

I dont know your creds honeysuckle or how old you are but research is something that can take a long long time and trust me it does help but not more than a USCE. I have a very extensive research background but it took me 6 years to do and yet it only gets me some recco letters and some inroads into a few programs but nothing even close to a sure shot. If I had spent those 6 years in a clinic doing obsies then prolly I would be finishing my first year internship this year. I would say nothings lost yet. This is my first year applying and I have had friends wait for 2-3 years before they got into a program. If you dont get in now.....try some obsies, try get some more LORs....try doing some volunteer clinical research.....eveything else on your resume can be changed besides the scores....remember that......

Thank you for your interest in the Neurology Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. We realize the amount of effort you have invested in becoming a physician, and your accomplishments are admirable. This year, we received a large number of applications; the qualifications and credentials were quite competitive. After a thorough review of your application, it is with regret that we will be unable to invite you to interview with our facility this year. We will keep your application on file until the national residency match results are complete. Please accept my best wishes for your career. Let me encourage you to pursue your dreams and aspirations.
