Goljan's RR, page 409, table 19-7:

IgA glomerulopathy:

Overlapping features with Henoch-Schoenline purpura may occur.

I cannot get what does this mean. Does it mean that some of their presentations is similar?

HSP is a tetrad of findings, skin, renal, joint and GI involvement. in kidney, there is IgA deposition in mesangium, therefore it is an IgA mediated nephropathy.

Berger's disease has only nephropathy (IgA mediated)

Hope this helps smiling face

the pathogenesis of the 2 diseases is almost the same and there is a predilection that if one has IgA disease the chances of them presenting with HSP is increased then in the normal population. Although being 2 distinct diseases they share the same Renal Manifestations. therefore its said these 2 can present with almost overlapping features.
