Now starting one for step 3.
Admist allt his Match turmoil its difficult to study-my PS keeps bugging me,none of my papers have been uploaded.so finally decided to start a journal.i dont have much time,should've started much earlier-soon after CS.
am still confused with the material.
but 've decided to use crush .Am doing CCS rt now ,so would decide about books while doing MCQs.
so the plan is atleast 10 CCS on software and read Crush-since am studying full time with only few hrs to devote in volunteer service.
should be done with CCS in a week then start UW MCQs.

I am in the very same boat.Finished CS in August in Atlanta.started preparation with UW for the past 2 weeks.

hey RitaM,welcome to the league.With the Match heat it gets difficult to cool off and study.
yesterday was a waste-not by all means,got a US lor i was waiting for a while.now i've nothing to do but to study.........trying to keep my mind off the Match since i havent started applying.
should be doing as i was supposed to.
I am trying to keep my mind off this match right now.trying some positive re-enforcement here.....hehehe

I'll have CS only in February, so I started studying for step 3, too. Using First Aid and Kaplan q-bank. So far Kaplan q-bank is being too easy...

hey arlete,how do u find FA?did u use it in CK?buddy if u r taking CS in feb,does that mean u'll take stp 3 in March'08 somewhere?considering ur exam is far off u can make an easy start.goodluck,am sure u'll keep up the spirit and posting ur progress.Is kaplan stp 3 too different from that of stp 2?
About FA for stp 3,i had a glimpse but didnt impress me-but then again i dont know where to read from!So still unsure about it.
i was unsure of kaplan in stp 2 as well but did it anyhow,so am thinking will stick to CK notes for this exam too.
Since i started tracking myself,it seems i havent done much.I should've completed CCS but still have around-58 of them!Lets see if i can complete it,i can atleast take care of crush tomorrow.
dont worry about match or the application ,just concentrate on the thing u r reading rt now-its not unimportant!

I used FA A LOT for step 1, and for the last read for step 2. I like it for step 3, but I am using 2001 edition, so I don't know if they changed it.
I started reading Obstetrics Lecture Notes, I like them. It's a different format, it puts a case scenario and discuss the next appropriate steps. But I've heard studying Kaplan LN for step 2 is way better. Not sure about that. If I get bored, I'll go back to them. I will watch the DVDs, too, eventually.
I want to seat for step 3 as soon as I get ECFMG certified. I want to be ready by then. I'll do usmleworld ccs about 6 weeks before the test. I hope having worked as a cardiologist for 8 years will help me on that!

they r not difficult,but as everyone says u got to get familiar witht the software.
today is for crush.will take UW subscription tomorrow.
Am thinking-2 hrs for CCS everyday and 2 hrs for crush/B&W.i'l need a lot of time for MCQs in tutor mode.

Hi smal, I am planning to prepare for step 3 --Can I join you in your journal?
I am collecting materials for step 3--Right now, I have
1.Kaplan Step 2 CK notes
2.FA step 3
3.NMS review for STEP3
Do you think are these materials enough? I am not sure where to start. Did you see step3 Kaplan videos? Let me know your opinion.

Hi everyone!!!
well I have also started to collect materials for step 3 ...I plan to take step 3 on 15th nov ,, havent registered yet, now waitng for the 2008 cycle to start,
i have :
1.kaplan step 2 ck notes
2.swanson
3.crush
4. kaplan qbook
havent subscribed for UW yet.
shall I read the books once n then start the UW or do everything side by side????
also, please tell me is one month subscritption enough or 2 months???

good work.am in the run too so count me in.Match is disracting.but lets gather our spirits and start off coz step 3 scores r going to stay with us for life even if we dont match this year.

sprint123-welcome to my journal,drop in everyday to write ur progress and share ur views.no idea about kaplan for stp3.Am still in the unsure mode regarding the materials to read.But from experience i'd say whatever u do,do properly coz there have been ppl on this forum who passed with UW alone!As for FA,i'll see if am not satisfied after crush and stp2 nothes,might read it.
ujaala:welcome to u too.As i said ,i've no idea what books would compile as complete for stp 3,we r all trying to figure it out our hit and trial way.regading technique,read everything first if u r not comfortable the other way-that is everything together.i like to do the latter-coz of my short attention span.
Now look at me-nowhere in studies but advising everyone!
so i did start UW mcqs.got 56 and 46.But i wont be mentioning marks any more-it distracts me from what i learnt.It's nice to see a lot of CK,makes me more comfortable.Today was a bussy day.Hopefully i can skip the evening trip to LAX and study,hardly studied today morning.
I do want to start B&W but dont know if i should do it all together........
Dear CINIII,totally agree with u.its pathetic to see ECFMG working so slowly to update the documents.lets keep our spirits high.

Thank you smal--I think I will listen to kaplan lectures first so that it might bring me into track--hopefully----Today----Heard only one lecture with lot of master's work!I think I should not Over stress myself for step 3 as or step2---Will read it with relaxation:-)
I am planning to give it by Dec/jan --When r u giving your exam smal?

sprint123 am giving my exam in october,if possible.
cant delay it any further,if i want to have the result by december.
starting with mcqs and read crush in afternoon.and discuss CCS in evening.it'll be my first day of discussion,so lets see how it goes.

almost followed my schedule.
did 3 blocks of MCQs,few pages of crush and 3 CCS.
i keep wondering if i should leave everything and revise theory from stp2 or should i go on with my studies as it is........but everytime i come across something resembling stp 2 and i get wrong,i really get mad at myself.

i tried to solve some ccs cases (from usmle.org orientation materials) and figured out that i m fine upto the diagnosis (frm the step 2 prep) but when it comes to treatment, i dont hv a clue...therefore i thought it wud b better to revise the materials b4 doing more ....

me too ujaala,so after 13 days i start reading step 2 notes-all of them.will be done in 1 week i suppose.then all MCQs and CCS.then NBME after revision of wrong MCQs.
then all over again.
21st done with theory.
9 days so accordingly CCS and MCQs division.by 2nd oct.
wrong MCQs for 4 days and NBME on 6/8.
then all over again.

There is a mnemonic for orders when one admits a patient into the wards, it's something "VANDALISM"... Anybody knows what it is?
I completely forgot...
