Acute alcohol intake induces CYP 450 where as chronic alcohol inhibits it. Can some one please tell me why and how. Thanks.

Hmm OK may be u r right, but I am looking for why this happens. I remember Goljan had explained in his lectures but now I can't seem to find it in my notes.

the reason is that the enyzme is not that much regulated if the alcohol is ingested acutely. now if u r having a chronic usage of alcohol the enzyme gets up regulated and therefore u need large amounts of alcohol to saturate urself and get that buzz feeling.

P450 enzyme is the secondary method of Alcohol metabolism.
