I'm an old IMG with several years of surgical experience in my home country;
Step 1: 90 (2nd attempt), Step 2: 86, CS passed;
Strong LORs from US surgeons;
Research experience and publications in surgery in US;
Do I have any chance to match in Surgery, maybe a small program? Thx for any suggestion.

hi doczn
you are a year a head of me as I just paid for my first test. similar situation, old grad, phd and few publications. somehow I feel positive about the prospects.a friend of mine, currently an attending surgeon in florida says i should have no problems getting what I want once i am done with usmle, so i think the same applies to you. if you read 2007 surgical matching mega thread you will be a bit disappointed as there was a doc with similar situation who apparently didn't get any interviews, however, others with less credentials got some. again, i think your visa status plays a role ...keep me informed with your progress, I am planning to start reading in November..

i am in same situationa ....Doc .....more or less....but my gut feeling is that i wont get anything

hey guys, dont give up. i am in the match once again. i am in for surgery and ortho again but this time around, i will add the usual 'buffers' int med and fam med. i think i have better chances this year because i have all the documents. visa is a problem but hey, let us give it our best. it is possible.

I'm going to try. One of my LOR is from my boss, Prof and Director of Surgery of a medical school. I hope that help me out.
