hi there, i am just new to the really helpful and wonderful place over here , and i think it is great to share our experiences so we can get the benefit from them i would like to thank you all and i hope to be a friend for you all. i have graduated last year and i sat for the medical council of canada examinations MCCEE and mccqe but i didnt score a good marks so , i am thinking of taking usmle2 ck (at january) first before the usmle1 ,as u know the materials covered in the canadian exams were clinical sciences( im, obs&gyn , ped and surgery) . i need your advice if that will be a good idea or i must sit for the ueml1 first .. i am confused and i really do need your help i will be grateful for your help thank you in advance

I know nothing about Canadian exams. But according to this forum, a lot of people recommend do step 1 first since it prepares you better for the whole process. Plus, the concepts you learn from step 1 will help a great deal for step 2 too. GL.

Hello be_strong, Welcome to prep4usmle forum! I agree with njcjzy. I'd recommend you taking USMLE step 1 first because it is the basic medical foundation you must master before going on to the clinical knowledge. Let us know if you have further questions. Have confidence in yourself, and you'll do great!

I agree 100% Americans are very methodical. If they have made 1 come before 2, there is pretty good logic to it. I think the best plan is to take 1 and then immediately prep for 2, and then immediately for CS. It has, however, been done successfully both ways.

HI BE_STRONG, i have heard that canadian medical scores does not matter?the big thing pfor you is that you are atleast done with canadian exams.experience in mccee and mccqe1 will definitely help you for step2ck. read toronto notes 2007 plus read kaplan step2 ck thorougly and ofcourse join uw.step1 knowledge helps but if you are done with canadian board you are almost there. i want to caution you that usmle step2 ck is not as easy as the canadian mccee or mccqe1.good luck! contact me if you have further questions: gdskamboj@gmail.com
