mph, this explanation makes a lot of sense, and I don't think you will have a problem getting a residency. It's just ironical that someone with your profile would be concerned about the chances to get a residency (especially the way you described it). Visa is what makes things tough, eh! I have now a six-year gap in my clinical experience (and working only with my MPH) only because I tried to avoid the stupid J1 and caught myself in a process that is slow forward and impossible to go back. My credentials:

2002 grad from India
99/97/CS passed.
Step 3 in Nov

Need H1B

PhD in Mol Med with 5 publications and 6 presentations.

Applied to 70 programs.

Congrats MPH and 'dr gr8' ........ u have enviable credentials ........ but MPH, it is surprising how you got all that done afetr graduating in 2004 .... but hey .... its great.

lots of post graduate experience & MRCP(UK).
no USCE, 5UK LORs.

CS passed, ECFMG cert. Step 3 awaitin scores

4.5 monts USCE, 2 months at a teachin hospital, 2.5 in private clinics. one month of usce lined up in october at a teaching hospital.

research : one project completed in india.

publication : one published in an indexed peer reviewed journal in india

need a h1

applied to 45 IM.. no calls yet shaking head

I am glad you guys liked my credentials. I look at yours with the same admiration and am glad many of you are applying IM. My severe draw-back is my graduation year. Many programs I looked at prefer recent graduate with an MD of less than 5-10 years. Good luck every one, leave pathology to me. smiling face

don't need a visa


Update Sept 30th
Applied 30 IM progams sept 18 then 24 more sept 27 so now 54 prog total
Got 3 IVs so far
praying for more!

5 rejections
only attended 9 IVs
accepted prematch
