I have a dilemma. On one hand, I want to be brisk and start applying to my programs. I know it's a first come, first serve basis....and my credentials arent that hot (Step 1 - 81 / Step 2 - 90 / CS scores pending). BUT....I have a chance to setup an observership next week. The person in charge told me to contact her AFTER Labor Day. (Sept. 3rd) So....Im thinking I should wait until I have secured the observership and know my hours/timings, SO THAT I CAN INCLUDE THE INFO. ON MY COMMON APPLICATION FORM. So what do you guys think ? Apply without the observership, or delay until later this week to have a more complete/accurate application ? Will a few days make a difference ? Thanks for all your help........

Anyone please ? I know you guys are busy with applications, but help a brother out. As of now, I havent applied yet, but Im leaning on the edge. I dont want to delay the process too much, and if its gonna cost me interviews if I wait 5-6 days, then I wont bother. Should I just wait until I secure the observership (so I can post it on my CAF), or start applying ASAP ?

Personally, I would apply ASAP..., make time to work on your application and get it done..., the sooner the better..., although I think a few days (5-6) will not make a big difference..., can´t tell you if that will cost u an interview, I don´t think so but I dont´know... How sure are you about been accepted for the observer?, if it´s almost a fact, just go ahead and include it on the CAF...

Thanks egomez. Actually, I am working as a pharmacy technician at the present time. The coordinator that sponsors the observership told me to call her after Labor Day, and that she expected plenty of spots available. Basically, I wil be shadowing and observing doctors around in the hospital. I dont want to include it in my CAF until I have arrangedtimings, etc. I would hate to put it in, and then tell potential PCs that it didnt work out. Thats why Im kinda hesitant. Also, my board scores werent exactly so great. I had an 81 on Step 1 and 90 on Step 2.

Then wait to know for sure..., that way you will play it safe and will be calm..., sincerely I almost sure that delaying application 5 days it´s not gonna affect ur application... Man, your scores are pretty good for a decent program, you will do great

^^^^ Thanks for the advice. Although Im not so sure about my chances at a decent program. From what Ive been told, my chances are not so great for a university program. So Im thinking apply to a lot of community programs just "to get in". Ive had some family issues over the past couple years, so I had to shy away from medicine for a bit. I did my besto stay "involved". Worked as a medical assistant. But my time away, PLUS my average scores, may cost me.

ZRF 80, Who has given you this idea of first come first serve. This is not a fast food joint. This is a misconception. BBB or others will be able to clarify further, I hope.

Don't worry they will not even look at applications until after labor day weekend and they will not start REALLY looking at it until mid-september so wait for that especially if you don't have any USCE. No problem in waiting a bit. Take care and GL...and your credentials are not bad at all.
