I know residencies are aware of the number of attempts for Step 1 CK and Step 2 CK and therefore passing on the first attempt is important. Is this true also for Step 2 CS? I've heard that for CS, once you pass, any previous attempts are not recorded on your transcript. Is this true? I heard many programs want people who pass step 1 CK and step 2 CK on first attempt, but no mention is made of the CS exam. Basically, what i'm asking is a failed CS attempt going to affect your chance of getting into a residency?

CS is 2 nd part of step 2 . step 2 is cs and cs ,so if program says we need first attempt on step 1 and 2 ,it includes cs. you have to tell the truth that you failed cs.you cannot hide it.ERAS transmitts the scores automatically to programs for each attempt. Hiding is out of option here. Also donot worry there are plenty of programs which will accept you.keep searching the criteria, call and ask programs if they will accept attempts

Hi friend, Can you advise me how to prepare for step 2 CS? I am a medical graduate from India. Is it necessary for people like us to attend any comprehensive training programme for STEP 2 CS, conducted by KAPLAN or USMLE world, before appearing for the exam. Do we need to do any externship programme in US.I heard that it involves patient encounters to assess our integrated clinical response, communication and interpersonal skills etc. Please advise.
