i appeared for step2ck in islamabad on 30th Aug. my impression of the exam is that it was running at a much lower difficulty level than UW. i had about 65-70 percent questions from IM, many of which were patho-phys type, about 7-8 from biostats, the rest were equally divided among peds, gyneobs, surgery. total number of media clips: a grand total of ZERO! I wasnt going too fast and was spending time on the questions that required 2 reads of the stem. at the end of each block i was left with an average of 2 minutes in which i'd go back to view the questions i marked but barely made any changes since i'm always hesitant to do that. the exam certainly is long, but the Red Bulls and the seriousness of the occasion kept me going. i felt the most exhausted in the second last block. for some reason the last block felt a little lighter...perhaps cuz one knows that "this is that last chance to do something about my score!" many thanks are due to all my senior contributors to this forum. many of you have been a strong motivating force. some of you scared me unnecessarily by saying that difficulty level is equal to UW. i just cannot endorse that at all from my experience. but i thank all of you. good luck with the scores everyone and i hope this piece of writing helps. hoping and praying for a decent score...... docsport!

Good luck for your score. I had exactly the same feeling as you when I got out of test center but apparently test difficuty varies a lot from person to person. Let's put it in this way: we have been lucky in having such a test even though this kind of test requires a higher percentage of correct qs to get a good score. I wouldn't blame those that could have scared me since I am sure they're test must have been really hard therefore it has been good for people preparing for the exam to know that these hard tests are around.

thank you everyone for such beautiful, encouraging responses. njcjzy, h212, bhanusupriya, veroni 14, Drtweetie, may earnest gratitude for the good wishes you have expressed. i wish you all tremendous success as well. lakshya 0 7, i didnt take the NBME for Step1 OR for step2. i used UW for learning + practicing and Qbook for evaluation. virgola82, youre probably right. there are tests of varying difficulty levels around. i hope you get a terrific score! and hey, every block is balanced. if they have a 2 or 3 loooooong questions, they will give u 6-7 very short questions too. they wont mess with you by pressing you for time. linaorvos, well according to our friend virgola82, you will get a higher score for getting the certain number of questions correct, compared to those who got an easier test. hope your score report brings you a big reason to celebrate! prayers needed for the score people, for all of us who have taken the test!
