hey nnl..
me in the same boat as u.. gave my step 1 in second week of september and got my score yesterday and i have failed.. i am still in a state of shock, cant get over it, especially when i had spent over a year on and of studying for it. dont really know where i went wrong , maybe lack of concentration. was scoring between 50 and 60% on UW.. now have my own doubts weather i should consider taking the exam again. do u think ther is any hope for img's who take a second attempt.. sorry to be bothering u like this but i was in desperate need for advice..

Give the Exm again and not no matter wht happens just give it ur best shot. If u dont have visa issues then u can keep trying till the end. But if visa is an issue then get a Post-grad work in ur home country as a backup seriously dont waste time only MLEs.

Well, it sure has been some time since you took your exam. I hope everyone is calmed down now and you are comfortable with your preparation and studies.
At last, i had the opportunity tonight to read all your posts in this thread. I dont know if its a good time to go ahead with my questions but ill just drop them here and please feel free to answer or ignore any Q you feel like to.
So here goes nothing,
1- please, what exact materials did you use + how many reads did you do?
2- please, how long was your "real" prep.?
3- your NBME form 3 scores were great, I guess they did not correlate well in your case ... %#%$# (well this isnt a Q!)
4- what were your scores on the other Q banks? Q book - Q bank - UW ...
5- in one of your posts you said: "As soon as i finish analzing my score report i will tell u guys where i committed the mistakes" .... can you please update us on that?
6- hmm, forget it ill post this one somewhere else (cuz its a little off topic)
Im sorry for bringing these things up again but i dont want to lose this chance of getting some real and honest advice.

I used KLN, Goljan, Ganong, HY NA, Kieth L. Moore's Clinical Anatomy, Robbins for CNS and online articles and researches while in Qbanks i did 2 month of USMLERx, 2.5 months of UW and KQbank 50%.

My first read was almost of 3.5 months, 2nd took long very long 5 months. The last read was not complete cos i had spent almost 15days each on a particular system like on Respi, Endo and Renal. I had revised them so many times that i was tired to go thru them, so the 3rd read was like mostly of rest of the subjects.

You had BY FAR the worst possible questions (literally, the WORST CASE SCENARIO)
The low yield was the high yield! Im sure you take that test today you score
plus 215!
I think that Cell Biology is really stumping alot a people. Not that it's hard, its
just that no many people get around to hitting it hard. It just sneaks up on
you on the test and your like WHOA!
I've read everywhere that HY Cell and Molecular Biology is a must now, the 1999
edition is the one must people mention. The new edition is overdetailed.
Im trying to get it off Amazon. Although they might have it at medicalheaven!
For those that dont know, dont know if its against forum guidelines, but maybe I
can do some good here (maybe you all know about it).
www.medicalheaven.com ALL THE BOOKS ARE THERE!
On EVERYTHING. Not just Step 1. Create a user account then use the search engine
and when the book appears, usually people post links in their comments.
